When I was a kid I hated having my friends or other people see the inhalers...So hope that helps. I didn't ever want to have a fanny pack or whatever, and didn't want it to be conpicuous because I didn't want to be treated differently....I don't know if other kids feel the same or not, but maybe that kind of mindset may help you figure out ways of them carrying it without it sticking out or making them stick out... Thanks,...char from Spokane wa wrote: There hasn't been hardly any days I can dance or even walk around the house without my lungs hurting and it being hard to breath. I feel I push myself but if I don't, when do I exercise and dance. The docs say to exercise and it's so hard. I sleep so much anymore, just because I'm always worn out by the labored breathing and pains in the lungs even on the predisone, asmanex, and 3 inhalers. Are you about where I am? I took my 10 yr old son to basketball practice tonight. Then I have to tell the couch that my son has a little bit of asthma and of course he sees me sitting there puffing on my inhaler. I feel like they'll rule my son out before he gets a chance to really try. But at the same time, after his first practice tonight and from all the running, I think he just

changed his mind about basketball because it was kind of hard on him. We forgot his Albuteral when we went. I'm going to go get him a 2nd inhaler tomarrow so we'll have one in his backpack and one in my purse(or in a fanny pack mabee). Does anyone have young kids with Asthma and how do you keep the inhaler on them at all times? When my daughter needed her inhaler at all times we first tried the fanny pack. It was ok for a while but really got in the way of play times. She was seven at the time and very active. We later switched to one of those tiny backpacks, almost like those purses you see women wear on their back. All that fit in there was her inhaler/peakflow meter/spacer. She wore it real tight so it didn't bounce around and she barely noticed it.

If your son is able to use his inhaler w/o a spacer maybe you could try a little belt wallet type of thing people put pagers or cell phones in? I think they do make those specifically for inhalers. Do a google search and I'll bet you're find some. Or maybe a strap around his arm or leg like some people use to attach their Ipod's.

Good Luck!

Hi

I was just wonderring after reading some posts in this mailing list,

does people there really can get mean when u have a different

condition (like asmathics), cause I can see that some people just

don't want their condition to be notice. Cause I also watched the

movies where they always picking on the geeks in school, the weak

kids, or those kind of things, is it really happening in the real life

there in US?

Wow.. that can be hard.

I don't think its necessarily just the U.S., but people tend to very easily single out one person to pick on because they have low self esteem and so want to take it out on someone else. I've really noticed that people who bully others do so, because they lack so much in their own life they dont want it to be seen, and so dish it out on others.
