Matter of fact as much as I love my diet coke I have not had one in 4 days (and boy does that hurt I am craving bad).I decided to try to go cold turkey on it to see what would happen. But so far this infection this time is getting worse and the health department doc. has gone on vacation and I can't see any of the other docs. there because there booked for the next month (sigh) the only other recourse i have is to wait till it gets so very bad I just can't stand it then spend the couple of thre thousand it will cost for the E.R and they don't come cheap.I have no insuarance with in a week of going there I start getting bills with in 2 weeks I start getting the debtors calling me 2 and 3 times a day. So I am muddleing along. That is why I posted this I just wanted to know if it is just me. And yes any suggestions is great. Guest guest
Michele, If you can get some, try AZO cranberry extract pills. They work well. I take them as needed and they are good for your body. Cranberry juice (not cocktail, but 100% juice from the store health food aisle) is a really good product also. Good antioxidants. Velez wrote: I had that problem too. Guest guest
Michele, I am not only a fibro sufferer but have other problems such as diabetes. I learned in a diabetic magazine a few years back that taking cranberry in pill form (pure cranberry) it eliminates UTI's. I have taken it every single day since reading it, and have never had a UTI again, which is amazing. If I feel like a UTI is starting, I double the dose for a few days. If you are just starting, I'd take 3 or 4 times the dose (it is just fruit that has been dehydrated and powdered) for several days, until you have relief. , in the Appalachian Mountains *************************************************************** Friendship is born at that very moment when one person says to another, What! Guest guest
Diane, UTI is a urinary tract infection. They are extremely painful and can be a troubling infection if it is constantly coming back. Cranberry extract is great for fighting this and is organic, so no side effects to speak of. Diane Kauffman wrote: What is UTI ? I just began reading and must have missed it. Thanks, Diane in Ks. Guest guest
Thanks to all who educated me as to what a UTI was. It does sound very painful, one symptom of fibro I don't have as of yet. Just recently acquired chronic hives. Thanks to all who answered me about them. Speaking of hives, does anyone know of something natural that may deter hives? Diane in Ks. Guest guest
- I have this problem too. My urologist diagnosed me with Interstitial Cystitis. It's a chronic condition where ulcers appear in the lining of the urinary bladder. They don't know why, nor can they treat it. There are medication out there, but I have not tried any. Ifyou have blood in your urine (as I ALWaYs do) you might get checked out. If your urine has a deep orange tint, it could be from blood. The treatment for this is toavoid cranberry juices or other acidic drinks and foods like tomatoes which further irritate the bladder lining. Good Luck to all with this problem. Guest guest
I'm just posting to address the problem of having to go to the emergency room and being therefore stuck with a huge bill... I am pretty sure that there are now things which may be purchased with no prescription that can relieve cystitis (go to the pharmacy rightaway; do not wait!). What I'd do is to go in and speak to the pharmacist, or even call a couple of places if you are in an area where the pharmacies are few and far apart to drive to. I know that the longer you wait, the more uncomfortable you'll be and (my theory here-) the worse it will get. I'm so sorry that you have to go through this; not much more damn annoying! > > > > > > I had that problem too. Guest guest
Diane, I have found that some of my UTI (urinary tract infection) are not infections at all but my bladder becoming too acid. Try some baking soda in a glass of water. The box of baking soda gives the doses for stomach acid relieve. For me, it takes about 1/4 t to 1/2 t to get relieve. You can repeat. If this goes not work I try Acidophilus pearls. Some recommend taking 1 5billion pills each hour until relieve. Yogurt or Kefir works well for this and sinus headaches. To me cysist is just too acid. Watch anything acid like soda. Lemon water is good, in the body it is not acid. You need something that works and can't be running to the doc all the time.
