Guest guest
Hey Becky, Is your problem post nasal drip? If it is, you can try over the counter NEIL MED. It is an easy to use sinus rinse that comes with a bottle and salt packages. The directions are in the box. It really helped my son and i think you could benefit from it as well. You can get it at CVS, wallgreens, duane reade, Aibertsons, Eckerd, and Rite aid pharmacies. I hope it helps. Sharmiabbj2002 wrote: HI group, does any one have sinus drainage with throat clearing? Guest guest
Haven't managed to get rid of the problem, but I've noticed improvement in throat drainage, etc. by: Totally cutting milk liquid food products from diet, cheese, etc. (yeah it's hard) and drinking more liquid water type things, and avoiding greasy food. (I'm not a vegetarian though, and I'm still a red blooded hamburger scarfing american like everyone else.) You may have to make up for it with calcium supplements. Also I have read recently that only certain types of vitamins are actually absorbable by the body from vitamin form, though I don't remember which ones, the rest, research says, just go right through you. Another person with asthma also told me trying to focus on straight water products and less on cream or dairy saturated drinks helps them too. Cutting the milk products has also helped control weight. I am almost the same weight I was in high school. If your throat feels really dry and irritated from the throat drainage you sometimes have sleep on the other side of your body the next night to avoid getting sore throats. I've had this problem frequently, and this is one of the little things I have to do to keep from getting sore throat problems, and it drives my wife nuts that I have to switch positions in bed all day to day, but she understands it. Gargling with salt water in the morning has helped somewhat. I would like to hear someone else's home remedies too. I've noticed that when I feel really full the asthma symptoms are especially heavy feeling, so I try to eat in small bursts throughout the day, or only eat till like 70 % full. If I eat until I'm completely full the full chest and the asthma symptoms together, are unbearable. I wish I had something really good to tell you, but the fact is asthma is really terrible and debilitating for me. I'm sure at some point in my life I will end up going on disability, but I'd like to try and make an effort to cut permanent damage and buy myself as much time as I can doing the things I want to. Drinking coke or other caffeine products when I start to develop symptoms sometimes helps. Exposure to cold night air can sometimes give throw me out of commission for days, after just a short period of time outside. I am interested in comparing notes of home remedies and such with others and seeing what they find...some questions I'm very curious about are: Does taking medicine after eating (instead of empty stomache) ease or protect you from side effects? Any particular jobs, that are specially suited for people with asthma? Any research on avoiding, and also notes on how permanent damage from asthma is caused and why Other thoughts regarding or encompassing other matters similar to the above notes Finding good doctors and conveying symptoms and working out treatment. Guest guest
Hi, I’m new on this group, but I can speak to that problem. I have sinus problems constantly. I take Allegra and it lasts me till the afternoon and then I have continued problems. I use Astelin and it only alleviates the sinus problem temporarily. I have had sinus surgery twice. You’d think I would have known better after the first, but after a period of relatively good sinus health both times I’m back to the same old problem. My general practitioner says the allergies have caused me to develop asthma. I think I’ve developed new allergies this year. I’m much worse this spring than ever before. I had a terrible round of chest congestion last week. My doctor put me on a round of steroids which have helped somewhat. Sorry, no solutions on this end. Wish I could say better things. Guest guest
I'm also having sinus problems. I have tried probably close to 4 different nasal drips and like the gel one the best. (Zicam is the name i do believe.) Next time you are at a place with a pharmacy, just ask the person working behind the counter. :)djsp.s. I work for Albertson's sister store in IL. Guest guest
I second Neil Med it is doing wonders for me the past year. This is a little known remedy that really works in dry climates. I do it in the morning and you can do it in the evening but sometimes to close to bed time you will get congested. Burke wrote: I'm also having sinus problems. Guest guest
I heard something scary on the news, that the increase of carbon dioxide has caused a huge growth spurt in foliage and trees, and that is why in our city, the pollen rates are three times higher than they have ever been from highs of like 8000 to 24,000 and that as a result all the local drs are seeing a huge increase in the number of asthma cases. I am staying indoors on polleny days as muchas possible, and keeping windows shut with several hepa filters running and an allergy 3m filter on my furnace fan. I have also had bad sinuses and a clogged up throat recently too so I think it is due to this wild pollenSee what's free at AOL.com.
