I got very lucky as my appearance was the last one on the docket for that day so I was able to take my time allot more and even take a couple of breaks. The hearing was allot less formal than I had anticipated adn the panel was very interested in everything I had to say. They actually listened to me and each word of what I said. Of course my stutter may have had something to do with that too. Anyway, be honest adn be very descriptive. I found that is what helped to get a ruling in my favour. I gave them every detail I could think of. Start a diary now if you need to for what your life is like now and help them to visualize what it is like for you to do the simplest of things. I gave them a couple of simple visual examples adn it blowed them away. Just remember to breathe. Angie Jeanette wrote: Hi everyone: I received my hearing date letter today. I wonder if I should have note cards so I have it right in front of me, I wonder what they would think of that. Maybe not a good idea...have to ask. I talked to Allsup today, and he said it will be in a conference room type set up, and that the judge will be at one end of the table and me at the other. The man who is going with me to represent me, is going to call and let me know if he feels I should bring witness's, like my sister. It all depends on the judge and he must have experience with this one. He said not to worry, tell the truth, etc,, and I should be fine. I applied March of 2004, so it has been 2 years, seems longer. There is also a mistake on the hearing location. I got one location on my letter and the lawyer was told another location, so they will be calling to let me know where it will be. I am hoping for the closer location. How did you dress for the hearing? Last night some kids shot out my back window of my car, so I have to get that replaced, thank goodness my insurance should cover most of it. 7:30 this morning the police were knocking on our door. He said that several in the neighborhood had been shot out. Darn kids, they need something better to do with their time.... ok, Talk to you later.. The panel (I had to address 3 people) sat at a table infornt of me, my lawyer and myself sat at at table on teh left and a government pension representative sat on the right. I live in NY. My attorney sent it to the Judge last August. I had just talked to my attorney's secretary last week and she looked in my file and that's when she said I'll be going in front of the Judge. It has taken me 4 yrs for the whole process.
