Guest guest
The strep test they did the very first night I saw the doctor. That came back positive. That was the week of Thanksgiving. I started getting a sore throat on Monday and thought it would go away. By Wednesday my throat was so swollen that I couldn't eat and had trouble talking. Was put on pain pills that night and antibiotic. By Monday, I was still the same and antibiotics didn't even work. Pain pills were not helping. Monday was when I had the mono test done and it came back negative. Up above in the second sentence I made a mistake. I said the strep test came back positive. I meant negative. I did not have strep. So for about a month, I was layed up in bed and all I did was sleep and be in so much pain. Finally it went away. Lou Jeanette French wrote: Hi, Did you ever get a strep test done? Just wondering if they ever figured out where it cane from. Thanks Jeanette French
Guest guest
Hi , wow, that was a long haul. I am glad it finally went away, seems to be a mystery, maybe just a bad virus. Do you still have your tonsils? I had to have mine out due to not being able to get over Strep Throat. Guest guest
Hi Jeanette: That month with my sore throat was a very long haul. I thought it would never end. I am glad it went away too. It does seem to be a mystery and the doctor told me it was a virus. I still have my tonsils. This is the strange part. Ever since I had that very sore throat and became sick with CFS in 1998, I never get sore throats at all. It's amazing. I don't get colds either. In fact, I stay healthy if I didn't have CFS. Guest guest
Hi Nerida: Dr. Bell told me when I was seeing him that some CFS patients will always be sick and other CFS patients will never get sick. I'm the one that never gets sick. Isn't that weird? Lou nerida brown wrote: Hi, I am so amazed that you do not have sore throats. Everyday since I got CFS I have had a sore throat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Gets worse in the mornings and evenings and eases off in the middle of the day. Nerida
Guest guest
Hi Jeanette: It was so weird. Before I got CFS in 1998, I would get colds every year and I would get sore throats also. Then in 1998, I had got sick with CFS in June. Then in November was when I had that severe sore throat. Never had one since. The last time I had a cold was before I got sick. This subject was brought up on two other boards and I see where many of us with CFS have noticed that we are not sick with common things as we were prior to CFS. I have to agree as my situation has been the same as others have noted. I recall one response from a person that I believe was a Dr. But not sure now what his specialty was said: it was due to the connection of " blood/brain " transfer and that CFS symptoms take so much in way of resources that it cannot focus on more than one thing at a time. It is kinda like having labor pains and getting a epadural, you cannot feel the discomfort in the process of the needle in the spine as the labor was enough that the processing found anything less to be non existant. I'm not sure it addresses all of it but is something to consider I suppose. I still find it strange though. God Bless, Dutchie/
