Guest guest
Hi Leona, What differences can you tell? AS you probably read in my earlier posts I will have to be off of my Advair for 24 hours prior to my LFT. How do you feel when you are off of it and is it noticable after only one dose missed or more like a week missed????? > > Can you tell the difference when you do/don't use your Advair? > > I can really tell the difference. > > Leona >
Guest guest
, If I may, I can't tell so much of a difference after just one day, but I've never forgotten it more than that, so I don't know about problems for longer. Just use your albuterol until the 4 hours before and be very careful. If you do have problems, use your meds and call for instructions. Take care and good luck, wrote: Hi Leona,What differences can you tell? AS you probably read in my earlier posts I will have to be off of my Advair for 24 hours prior to my LFT. Guest guest
, That would be good if you can do it unmedicated. Just be careful and watch for triggers. Let us know what happens. I always carry my albuterol with me too. I know better than not to. Take care and good luck with the test. wrote: - That makes me feel better, actually. I will definitely have the Albuterol with me, as I always do now, so if I need it I do. I would love to have the test without any meds just to get a unmedicated reading. Thanks again.> >> > Can you tell the difference when you do/don't use your Advair?> > > > I can really tell the difference.> > > > Leona> >> > > > > > >
Guest guest
I was also given Advair at the very first diagnosis of asthma, along with Maxair (short-acting). What other long-acting medications might the doctor have considered instead of Advair? I'd like to do some research before my next appointment. Thanks, Carol

Guest guest
I've had singulair and was taking it for seasonal allergies. What is singulair's role in asthma therapy. I cannot see that it does much, however....since I stopped taking advair last week and switched to asmanex my breathlessness returned. I wonder if taking singulair daily might alleviate this. Anybody take singulair and if so what symptoms does it treat specifically. I try not to medicate too much, so I was only taking singulair when my allergies flared up. But now without advair...I cannot breathe as well. "Matt Anders, RRT, EMT" wrote: I have not heard of this. I contacted my local Advair rep however he was not available. I will try again later. As for as other medications that work like Advair. Advair is two medications. One is a steroid and one is a long acting bronchiol-dilator. In the UK they have a medications just like it called Symbicourt. It is Pulmocourt and Foradil in one inhaler. It is not available in the US yet however you can take the individual medications. They are both available in the US. So Advair is a steriod and a long acting bronchiol-dilator. If you wanted to try something that worked like it with out using the advair diskus you coud try any combinations of these medications types. Steriod: Beclomethasone: med in Respocort, Becodisk Qvar, BecloforteBudesonide: the medicine in PulmicortFluticasone: the medicine in Flixotide and in FloventFlunisolide: the medicine in AerobidTriamcinolone: the medicine in Azmacort long acting bronchiol-dilatorSALMETEROL: medication in the Serevent diskus or MDIformoterol: medication in the Foradil AerolizerTalk to your doctor before making any changes in your asthma therapy.>> I heard today that advair is being taken off the market, can anyone > verify this info. Guest guest
I take singulair in the evenings for my asthma and it does help a little. I still use advair, though. I don't have any problems with the advair or singulair. candleinaustin wrote: I've had singulair and was taking it for seasonal allergies. What is singulair's role in asthma therapy. Guest guest
Advair treats the two parts of asthma, bronchial constriction and airway inflammation. If you do try some other medication(s) they will need to also treat these two components. You may want to ask your doctor about an inhaler for the bronchial constriction such as Atrovent or Combivent. And Singulair for the inflammation. Singulair is not a steroid. As always, talk to your doctor before making any changes to your asthma treatment/prevention plan. My advise is for informational purposes only. Do not make any changes to your medical or drug therapies with out speaking to your doctor. > > Hi Everyone, > > I havent been posting anything lately I was working midnights and not > on the computer much. Guest guest
Tami I did see improvement when I was on Advair, but I also noticed my albuteral did not work as effectively and took more hits. In addition to this, I would have extreme chest pains and tremors. One day I decided to reread the Advair side effects and found chest pain and tremors listed under their " less likey to happen " category. Now I am on Qvar 80 and my extreme chest pain along with my tremors have went away. I still get occassional chest pains, but that is just my asthma - have had those symptoms for 15 years. Do not let my experience scare you, I have heard many many people say they improved with Advair, I would just recommend keeping an eye open for any side effects, as with any medication. Best wishes on your improvement. > > Anyone on this? and if so do you see an improvement? my doctor put me on > this today in hopes of getting off the prednisone > ~~~Tami~~~ > hummycherub@... > > > > > --- > Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. > Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com). > Version: 6.0.286 / Virus Database: 152 - Release Date: 10/9/2001 >

Guest guest
I heard that Advair has a generic, but I called Wal-mart and CVS, and they said there isn't one. Does anyone know about that???
