Guest guest
I don't know anything about the company, but just because it is " green " does not mean it is going to be non irritating. Tree oils and herb scents would send me over the edge. Kris > > Hi Everyone! > > Does anyone have any experience (good or bad) with a company called > Melaleuca? Guest guest
Hi Everyone! Does anyone have any experience (good or bad) with a company called Melaleuca? Or with using “green” natural household products instead of the store bought standard brands? I am interested in trying some of this company’s cleaning and laundry products, which are supposed to kill 99.9% of germs using only natural, non-irritating, and very “safe” ingredients. (I am concerned that the chemical fumes from standard cleaning products aggravate my son’s asthma. My own sinuses get very irritated when I use products like Tilex and Windex, etc.) This natural stuff sounds like a good idea but maybe too good to be true? I believe this company uses ingredients like tea tree oils and Thyme. I just thought I’d see if anyone has any experience or advice on this subject. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks! Guest guest
Hi , I've had good experience with all the Melaleuca products. As you may know the Melaleuca bush is from Australia and often referred to as the Tea Tree bush. It has been used for years by the aborigines there for tea and medicinal purposes. I'd try some and see if it bothers your child. It either will or it won't... It will not cause harm and may even have medicinal value. It is great for mosquito bites. For cleaning purposes I use a biodegradable product called EcoH which I happen to sell. It is a concentrate and has no odors and I have no recollection of it fuming It great for pre-spotting on shirt collars or food stains on clothing. I would be happy to send you two trial pouches for your experimentation. For Laundry operations I have added a Laundry Pure attachment to our family washing machine which allows clothes to be cleaned without chemicals or detergents. It is an appliance that attaches to the wall behind the washing machine where the cold water supply can be routed to the appliance and be treated with activated oxygen manufactured in the appliance and fed to the washing machine. In this fashion cloths are washed without added chemicals. No detergents, no bleaches and no fabric softeners. Also the system does not require heated water as the activated oxygen forms a mild solution of hydrogen peroxide enough to sterilize the clothing and cause dirt to float away. This promises to just about pay for itself the first year in eliminating the cost of heating laundry water. Guest guest
I have had experience with Melaleuca -- was actually a rep for the company for several years. The products are very good--you do use less as they claim and it does clean better than most other products I've found. They are not fume free, but have very strong tee tree oil fumes. I had no reaction to the tee tree oil, so had no problem using these products. If you have a reaction to tee tree oils, you will have a problem with these cleaning products as well. -----Original Message-----From: asthma [mailto:asthma ]On Behalf Of RHSent: Friday, July 14, 2006 11:59 AMTo: asthma Subject: Cleaning products VS Asthma Hi Everyone! Guest guest
Melaleuca eliminated my son's asthmatic coughing at night by simply washing his sheets and pillowcases. It was remarkable. I'm not building a business too much now. I just share when the opportunity arises and enjoy being a customer. I'll never go back to buying from the grocery store again. My toddlers also love to help clean and it's nice not to have to worry if they put their hands in their mouth that they won't have their esophagus scarred. Have a blessed day, Christy
Guest guest
I've been using some great products that are readily available at our Target called Method. I'm also trying Caldrea products and can get them at drugstore.com. These are green products also. I think both of these are reasonably priced. I didn't want to try the Melaleuca products due to cost. I try to stay away from chemical laden cleaning products and especially ones in aerosol cans. It helps me. Here's a link to method: http://www.methodhome.com/pad/ And Caldrea: http://www.caldrea.com/default.aspx You can read reviews on these products at drugstore.com too, that's how I picked particular products. My favorite fragrance from Caldrea is the Citrus Mint ylang ylang and I LOVE washing my hands and dishes with it. Hope this helps.... in Grand Prairie See the all-new, redesigned Yahoo.com. Guest guest
Method is reasonably priced? Sure, if you think $6 for a bottle of dishsoap and $13 for laundry detergent is reasonable! Guest guest
All of us use what works best for us. Method works for you, Melaleuca work for me, and so on and so forth. What makes Melaleuca's products affordable is being a loyal customer and getting the discounts and rebates. My husband is in the grocery business and he calculated the difference between cheap store bought dishwasher detergent and the Diamond Brite from Melaleuca and there is a savings? He is a tight spendthrift (You know the kind that never buys anything on the endcap or at eye level) so if he calculated a savings then it's pretty good. Guest guest
Yes, I do consider it a value. Especially for the fact that they don't contain petro chemicals to do the cleaning while tearing up my sinuses and skin. I've considered making my own soaps/cleaners, and have the directions and such to do it, just finding the time is one of my setbacks. Yahoo! Music Unlimited - Access over 1 million songs. Guest guest
Another thought on the price. I use 1/10 of Method and Caldrea product as compared to other non-green products. They are much more concentrated. I guess you've never tried them? Anyway, on to more Sunday chores cleaning with my overpriced products....LOL Yahoo! Music Unlimited - Access over 1 million songs.
