Guest guest
Good morning to all! I'm a new Member of this Board, and I'll give you a little background... I've had Fibro. symptoms all my life (I'm 57 now), things such as CFS, IBS, depression, leg pain as a child (dr. told my parents it was " growing pains " and would go away), etc. About 3 years ago, I tripped and slammed my face onto a concrete sidewalk. From that day on, I went into a downward spiral with my health. Earlier this year, I had reached the point I could barely walk when I got out of bed... my feet hurt terribly, and the bones in my feet and knees would make cracking and popping sounds when I moved. When I woke up, I felt like my muscles were so tight, I was in a small ball...needed to be put on one of those torture racks from the movies to be stretched out! I'd developed sleep apnea, Restless Legs Syndrome, and horrible brain fog and short-term memory loss. Luckily, my dr. was familiar with Dr. St. Amand's Guaifenesin protocol, and I went on 300 mg. BID. (That's after I removed ALL salicylate products from my use.) I started flaring, which was very exciting, because this is my correct dose! I started on all long-acting Guai., but after about 3 months, the clearing had started slowing down. I wanted to change to the Mucinex, so my dr. agreed to that, and it's working better for me. My left thigh cleared within the first month of first starting the Guai., and I'm clearing every time I'm mapped. I also found out I've apparently become very carb/sugar/chocolate intolerant. When I eat any quantity of chocolate, I get severe IBS...seems like that would be a curse, but it's actually a blessing, because I need to quit eating chocolate anyway! I started on the strict HG Diet in Dr. St. Amand's book, and I began to feel SO much better! I'll be honest... I don't stick to the diet totally...I've adapted my own way of eating...which is pretty much the same, but I do have a small amount of carbs and even less of sugar (like in some salad dressings... but will try to remedy that a.s.a.p.!). I call what I do " my plan " ...don't like the word " diet " and I just want to do a healthy way of eating that's for life. As long as I'm very careful about sals...watch what I eat...and take care of myself and get mapped...the Guaifenesin protocol is working for me! I'm getting better all the time, and the mapping proves that! I'm so grateful to Dr. St. Amand and for developing the Guaifenesin protocol...I feel I've been given a chance to get my life...and my spirit...back!! After learning about Fibromyalgia, I'm convinced both my mom and dad had it, as well as my oldest sister. They've all passed away, and it's too late for me to do anything to help them. That's why I'm so passionate about helping others get their lives and spirits back. I'm so happy I've found this Board...it's obviously a very friendly place, so hope to get to know all of you! Have a peaceful day... Blessings, Carol
