Guest guest
Welcome Becky, We seem to hear this sort of thing so often. Under medicating a chronic pain patient. There are so many medications out there to help control or gain some sort of control over our lives. My personal opinion... You really need a doctor that understands what chronic pain is about and all the various impacts it has on one's life. My experience has been... being undermedicated by my primary care physician (drastically) and there for always in unbearable pain. It wasn't until I literally sat outside his office at closing time and cornered him so I had his undivided attention. It worked! I finally got the referral to a Pain Clinic and it has made a drastic difference in my life. These are people who understand what chronic pain is. I finally felt validated instead of being treated as a drug searching person. I have a very good friend who has lived with pain for many years and is getting medication to help but the doctor has no clue about new and possibly better medication to help the person in chronic pain. He's a family practice doc. It's hard enough to live day to day with pain and all that goes with it, and then to have to deal with doctors who don't understand or are afraid to perscribe medication, is too much. Good luck and welcome to the list. Kathleen in Calif.
