Guest guest
Hi Hope, I am thinking good thoughts for you with your therapist. It took me a long time to learn about therapists and the kind of therapy that was effectiver for me. I am not talking about someone who is a 'yes' therapist person..lol.. So I started doing the interview session which is usually free, and interviewing the therapist, to get a sense of their style. I also was clear on what I needed, and that I considered us a team. Also told the therapist that I needed someone who is open to listening to the patients needs(not just coddling) if that patient is truly willing to keep the focus on themselves and their healing, that I should have some imput. Until I lost my good insurance, I had some excellent therapists who were not threatened by a patient who had some idea of the direction they wanted. Of course I had not desire to 'be in charge' of therapy. Just to be on the team and have some say in certain areas. The therapists who had no problem with that seemed to be experienced, confident, and not feel threatened by an intelligent patient who knew some of what they needed and the type of therapist they needed. After all we are patients needing therapy, but because we need that does not mean we are stupid or clueless.:-) I am glad you are looking hard at your 'nada'ish' work place. When I was younger, I often took jobs because the people who I interviewed with, etc. felt 'familiar' which gave me a degree of false safety and a sense of fitting in. After some jobs from hell, I realized that I would pick employers, etc. who were like my FOO, no wonder it felt familiar, etc. Trust yourself:-) Susie & Col In a message dated 5/27/02 8:46:07 AM Pacific Daylight Time, oikocryst@... writes: > She better not think it's her job to teach me to > respect my parents.
