Guest guest
As of last Friday, I had titrated up to a daily 12 mg of Zanaflex (4 mg 3x day). I stuck with it thru the weekend and holiday as our plans were minimal, but the side effects have gotten worse and worse. Monday night and all day today I have had terrible headaches, dry mouth, nausea and every dose makes me lethargic enough that I have to go to bed for several hours. It's great at night though but I don't want to spend my life sleeping!! As of the noon dose, I went down to 2mg and I'll do 2mg as soon as I'm ready to sleep. I thought I was getting a cold or the flu (stuffy sinus, teary eyes and nose, hot and cold flashes and achy joints except within the 5 hrs after my Zanaflex dose) but after reading in the archives, especially Robbies post about the same symptoms, I think maybe thats whats going on. My doc is on vacation thru the week, so I am just going to gradually pull myself back on this drug. this is a true bummer as it works wonderfully for the muscle spazims and sciatica pain that make my life so miserable. Funny thing-my DH, who also has chronic pain (what a pair we are) is on his first month of Zanaflex and doing really well. He has not had the side effects I have and has titrated up even faster than I did. Now I know that I can be a wuss when it comes to drugs-does not take much to have an effect on me, but I had thought the mal absorptive factor of my weight loss surgery would decrease my ability to assimilate the drugs. Does not seem to work that way with Zanaflex. This is the 4th anti-spazim drug I have tried this year and the most effective-as well as the most potent in side effects. I've decided I will try with 2mg 3 times a day to see if thats workable for me and keeps the pain at bay. Truly apreciate the imput and the valuable info in the archives crone elle
