I agree about cooking, but ever since Ive been eating out a lot I've gained more and more....are those of you who don't cook struggling with weight issues? I lost about 9 lbs in a year on weight watchers. The instructor told me that she thought something was wrong with my thyroid. That was a year ago and that's when I really started pursuing wellness in this area.

Soy, soy, and soy???????? Aaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!! My middle daughter, who

also has Hashi's, is on the Weight Watchers' Program, but she says that she

has a very individualized plan. OMG!! There will be no fat free anything

for me, as I don't do well on these products, energywise. If you read some

of these labels, you will see some horrid stuff. However, I like restaurant

foo and was much healthier when I was eating out a lot, so who knows. I

HATE cooking!!

YOu don't HAVE to eat the soy, this is just a list of the core

foods. What I do is cross off the foods I can't have, and stick to

eating the whole foods that are on the list.

REally, the list is very versatile, because you can omit all of the

sugar free and packaged crap and you still have a wide range of

foods to choose from. The variety of foods on this list is much

wider than the variety of foods on the low carb list. It depends on

what your needs are...

This diet has really helped me, but I am not saying that it will

work for everyone. I did not like the low carb diet, it made me very

angry...

I do not hate to cook - but I do not have a lot of time with a 50 hour a week job, my kids, hubby, house, horses - oh, and my Kay business. So, I cook/partially cook/prepare dinners on Sunday afternoon. It takes about 2 - 2.5 hours and the I freeze or refrigerate everything and cook or crock pot something every day. That way, we do not eat out and get unknown ingredients in food, and it is done when we walk through the door. I can eat "whole foods" and have it quick. The whole family has lost weight since I started this.sle816@... wrote:

Well, like tonight - we are having White Chicken Chili. I often cook and strip a whole chicken to use for quick meals - and keep in freezer in ziplok bags - so this was easy. A 1 pound (quart) zip lock bag of chicken, 1/2 a bag of frozen chopped onion, a can of chopped green chilis, 2 can's of white navy beans w/ jalapenos, one can of great white beans and 2 tbsp chili powder. It is in the crock pot, and will be hot and done when we get home.

I will put up or freeze stuff like:

Spinach & cheese - or any kind of quiche, Beef Enchiladas, Chicken and broccoli casserole, King Ranch chicken, Salmon "burgers", Zucchini casserole (With egg and jalapeno), Chili, Homemade spaghetti sauce, Dijon cornish game hens with roasted carrots and red potatoes, brisket (Works great in a crock pot), any kind of soup, pulled pork burritos with black beans

Stuff like this. Plus, pasta cooked and frozen in a ziplok bag will micro in minutes. I will also put the meal together in a tinfoil pan, and freeze it. The next morning, I put in frozen in the oven and set the time bake to kick on 1 - 1 1/2 hours before we get home.

That is the ONLY way we can eat good meals. All these recipes have been "modified" so there is low-fat, and no processed stuff in them. Most have been "low-carbed" from a "white flour" perspective too. My husband has been at me to put together a cookbook for working women. (in all my spare time - ha, ha)

Hope this gives you some ideas!

I gain more when I cook all the time because handling all the good food makes me eat a whole lot more, lol! I can smell it, and it's very hard NOT to. Eating out, I usually have a set amt of food and there isn't any more.

Re: Weight Watchers core foods

I agree about cooking, but ever since Ive been eating out a lot I've gained more and more....are those of you who don't cook struggling with weight issues? I lost about 9 lbs in a year on weight watchers. The instructor told me that she thought something was wrong with my thyroid.
