Hi Rox,

I'm also in Pennsylvania. It does sound as if you are undermedicated. I

have degenerative disk disease, spondylitis, FMS, failed low back

syndrome, osteoarthritis, peripheral neuropathy, sensorimotor

polyneuropathy, etc, etc, etc.

I've been on most, if not all, of the NSAIDs over the years and Vioxx has

been the most effective, by far, for me. I do have high blood pressure

brought on by meds, but that happened before the Vioxx. I think that with

any of the NSAIDs you have the risk of increased BP. My rheumatologist

put me on meds for BP and that has kept it controlled very well. Taking

yet another pill is not a pleasant thought, but in this case I feel it is

worth it.

I also take Oxycontin and OxyIR for pain, Paxil, Trazadone, the BP meds

and Prevacid (since NSAIDs can also rip up your stomach). My problem,

fortunately, is not the neck but the low back, which also results in

sciatica. I had a spinal column stimulator implanted in '95 to help with

the nerve pain in the legs.

It's interesting that so many things are passed off as growing pains,

etc. My back problem started when I was a teenager, but looking back I

also had years of trouble with leg pains that were passed off as growing

pains. Now, of course, they have put names to all of it but that process

took a long time and a lot of doctors. For several years we also had to

go the HMO route -- hopefully that is just going to remain a bad

memory!

I hope you can find some useful advice on this group.

Well, I haven't even had time to " lurk " in the group since I joined.

I have been working long hours or volunteering long hours.

I am determined to slow down. I had a few minutes at work so I

thought I'd check out some of the posts. WOW! I love it here.

What a calming place.

I have printed the 36 Christian Ways to Reduce Stress.

The article about doing dishes.

40 Ways to Determine Your Level of Freedom.

Thanks for posting all the great articles, etc. I can't wait to

block out some time to begin reading and maybe one day, be an active

participant.
