Carbonyl Iron vs. ferrous bis-glycinate chelate

What is the difference b/t these two types of iron?

I have been taking the feosol (carbonyl iron) 45mg tablets (that is

the smallest dose they come in) and I have tolerated them quite well.

However, I know Dr. R prefers this other type of iron...so I bought

some of that today when i went downtown. The kind I got was Advanced

Ferrochel by Source Naturals (27mg tablets, 180 for $9).

Any comments?

I think he prefers the ferrous bisglycinate because it is easier on the stomach. I am not sure about how well it is absorbed. I know he does not like the extra junk in the HHA.

If you need very large doses, it may be easier to do with the Feosol. When you call about the DHEA, you might also want to ask about the Feosol.

Feosol is actually one that Dr. Ted Friedman recommends. On his site, he says that carbonyl iron is a "very pure form of iron." wrote:

Hi ,

This is a late comment 'cause I just got my computer back up and

running a day or two ago. But Dr. R. told me any kind of iron was

fine as long as the patient could tolerate it and it increased the

ferritin level. :-) I am still tolerating feosol quite nicely!

Hi, Jan!

As you can see, by now I've caught up with the posts. Hopefully there

is no limit. Feels good to be back! Yes, I will join the Wyoming

site soon now that I have my new e-mail address. I'll have to figure

out how to sign in without my old utsa e-mail address showing up like

it is now, because as you know, it's no longer valid!

It's beautiful here!

:o)
