Guest guest
Now rules are changing for handicap placards and plates. There are starting to be different colored parking spaces and you have to have the right color PLACARD to use that space, and the plates don't matter. You MUST have a placard! I don't like that idea at all since my motorcycle has no 'rear view mirror' to hang it on, and anybody could steal the placard because it has to be in plain sight. I have a license plate on it, but it will no longer be enough. When the plates were approved and we started getting them, a friend went to the mall in a city nearby, and parked his bike. A policeman saw him and went over to stop him from parking there. When Stan showed him the handicap plate, the officer started to take the plate because it was an apparent forgery! We still laugh about that one. Dennis BTW, Happy Birthday, , and welcome to the group. 40 isn't that bad, just wait till your 60's. It gets worse.... ;<) Re: [ ] New to group Hi : Welcome to the group and Happy Birthday! <snip> I, too, have a handicapped placard which I use when I need to, and often get looks from others as I get out of my car. It is very hard to make people understand when we look " normal " to them, but are in pain 24/7. Mind you, it takes me a few minutes to get in and out of my car, and I hobble to the store, but still, I get those looks like I am faking it or something. I wish. Guest guest
Dennis, where are you that they are starting this. I am in texas and they always honor the plates as well as the disabled veterens plates. Here they do issue two different color placards. Blue for permenent and red for temporary. But that is about it. All spaces here are one color and whoever can use them. I hope that trend does not come to texas...it would life pretty hard for people around here. I don't think that Texans would go to for that either. People here are pretty vocal when it comes to things like that. Toni > > Now rules are changing for handicap placards and plates.
