Guest guest
okay I am the last person who should ever be given one of these...four days and it is already broken. i was just trying to shake it down...frustrated cause it took about 20 minutes to shake down last night and I had to keep tapping it on a magazine to get it to shake down... tonight I tapped it on a folded tshirt on a dresser and i accidentally tapped it on the dresser... Well it broke!! Should I be as worried as I am?? I got instructions online on how to clean it up but I already made several mistakes. Grrr.. I am not going to bring another one of these things in the house, ever. Any suggestions??
Guest guest
And to think we used to PLAY with that mercury when we were kids! You can get non-mercury shakedown thermometers at Walgreens or CVS for about $6 (brand name Geratherm). okay I am the last person who should ever be given one of these...fourdays and it is already broken. i was just trying to shake itdown...frustrated cause it took about 20 minutes to shake down lastnight and I had to keep tapping it on a magazine to get it to shake down... tonight I tapped it on a folded tshirt on a dresser and iaccidentally tapped it on the dresser...Well it broke!!Should I be as worried as I am?? Guest guest
Wrap a rubber band several times around the thermometer at the place where you hold it. Then you can shake vigorously without losing it. wrote: okay I am the last person who should ever be given one of these...four days and it is already broken. i was just trying to shake it down...frustrated cause it took about 20 minutes to shake down last night and I had to keep tapping it on a magazine to get it to shake down... tonight I tapped it on a folded tshirt on a dresser and i accidentally tapped it on the dresser...Well it broke!!Should I be as worried as I am?? Guest guest
Cool, I am going to check it out. I was thinking about getting a basal body temp thermemeter (for fertility). I think that is what my grandmother has. > > > > okay I am the last person who should ever be given one of these...four > > days and it is already broken. i was just trying to shake it > > down...frustrated cause it took about 20 minutes to shake down last > > night and I had to keep tapping it on a magazine to get it to shake > > down... tonight I tapped it on a folded tshirt on a dresser and i > > accidentally tapped it on the dresser... > > > > Well it broke!! > > > > Should I be as worried as I am?? Guest guest
I am just such a huge klutz, I even had a dream when I first got the thermometer that I broke it and accidentally stabbed myself with it and poisoned myself...THAT should have at least warned me to be more careful. okay I am the last person who should ever be given one of these...four > days and it is already broken. i was just trying to shake it > down...frustrated cause it took about 20 minutes to shake down last > night and I had to keep tapping it on a magazine to get it to shake > down... tonight I tapped it on a folded tshirt on a dresser and i > accidentally tapped it on the dresser... > > Well it broke!! > > Should I be as worried as I am?? Guest guest
I used to play with mercury, too. My uncle gave us a little bottle of it. I believe it is one of two contributing causes for my thyroid cancer, the other being the radiation form the X-ray machine in the Buster Brown Shoe Store. . . .Betsy wrote: And to think we used to PLAY with that mercury when we were kids! You can get non-mercury shakedown thermometers at Walgreens or CVS for about $6 (brand name Geratherm). Guest guest
When I was little I dropped and broke a mercury thermometer. I was chasing those little mercury balls all over the bathroom trying to pick them up. I'm still alive ... > I am just such a huge klutz, I even had a dream when I first got the > thermometer that I broke it and accidentally stabbed myself with it > and poisoned myself...THAT should have at least warned me to be more > careful. > > > > >> > Start your day with Yahoo! - make it your home page
Guest guest
What are your thoughts on dental x-rays, Jan? When people our age were kids, I don't believe they even attempted to protect people with lead aprons or anything. I probably had a thousand dental x-rays. Last time I got my teeth cleaned they had to ... guess what? Take x- rays! Why? I almost said forget it! I did decline the flouride treatment and the hygenist is going to look up flouride and its effects on thyroid. yay. Guest guest
I get my teeth x-rayed every four years, unless there is a problem. When there is a problem, I only let them x-ray the problem area. I also avoid mercury amalgam fillings and anything that contains fluoride. A lot of those hygienists are hypothyroid or have had thyroid cancer. You would think they would put two and two together. . . .Ditto for x-ray technicians . . . . wrote: What are your thoughts on dental x-rays, Jan?
