Pam,

It's the Ribavirin. It will 1) cause terrible shortness of breath,

and 2) cause all sorts of aches and pains. I didn't have the

breathing problems on the Interferon alone.

I sometimes felt like I was having a heart attack. The Riba is very

hard on the body, worse than the Interferon. It will cause breathing

problems. I used to have to sit halfway up our stairs in the house

and rest for a good 10 minutes before I could make the rest of the

climb. Needless to say, once I was downstairs, I stayed downstairs.

Be sure you tell your Dr about this so he is aware of what is going

on ok?

Pam,

Your Dr. needs to be aware of these side effects. My dr. gave me his

business e-mail so I could keep in touch with him between visits.

Many people find keeping a side effects diary is useful. Some sides

come and go and are forgotten before the next dr. visit. I wrote new

or bad sides on the calender in my bedroom and made notes the morning

of my appointments.

Hope you can find something that will help so you can stay on

treatment.

Pam is the pain on the liver side just below the bottom rib, about

half way from your belly button to the side. I don't know why but

for some reason lots o' HCV folks, myself included, get gallbladder

problems. Mine used to be so bad I'd go to the ER and they would

give me morphine, no questions asked. It is undescribable. If I had

the choice I would rather get stabbed in the stomach again, rather

than going through that pain. It could be the liver or pancreas

also. Bottom line, get it checked out. When I went to get my gall

bladder removed I had pancreatitis too, so I had to go an extra

week, prisoner of the wing nurses from hell! food through a tube

also. One night I snuck out and , you have to picture this, I'm in

my gowns, with a black leather motorcycle jacket on, those stupid

slipper sock thingys they give you, and the stand with the IV bag

attached, sneeking across this busy street so I could buy a cigar.

BAD! BAD! I was offering the nurses $20 for the first one to bring

me a chicken leg to eat after about 5 days!

Hello All.

About ten years ago I was driving a Patrol car as I was a Deputy

Sheriff in New York. I had pain in the chest and ribs to the point

that I thought I was having a heart attack. I drove myself to the

hospital. No attack, it was Fibromyalgia/athritis. They did tests

though and found I was blocked 70 percent. This was not enough to

cause pain, but I had angioplasty. Still open and clear today. I am

getting along as I retired and I now live in Las Vegas. Good

weather for lowering the pain. I just went on Acid/b6/b12/ tonight

after reading about it here. Will let you know how I feel in a few

days

Merry Christmas Alan
