Kristi,

Congrats girl!! I know you are so excited! I don't mind shopping now at

all. I remember before the MGB thinking -God just let me lose enough to

wear a size 20. I am in about the same size mostly 18s but some 16s.

I went to this store a few weeks ago that I hadn't been to in a long time.

I couldn't fit in to the clothes they had to offer. 24 was about the

largest they had. So out of habit I pick up the biggest thing they had

(which was a 22) The sales girl (who I could have kissed square in the

mouth) said " honey you don't need a 22, you look more like an 18 to me. " I

turned around to see who she was talking to cause I knew it wasn't me. I

said " I don't think so. " She said " wait and see " . So I tried on the 22- it

was too big and so I got the 20 and it was too, so I wound up buying the 18

.. So at the counter she was about to die to say " I told you so " . So of

course I had to tell her all about my MGB, yadda, yadda, yadda. After

telling her " The Life and Times of Dana Tart and the MGB " I bet she was

thinking - all I said was " honey I think you are an 18 " . That's what the

skinny little thing gets for working in a plus size store. LOL!!

Anyway enough about me, I am so happy for you! Call me soon.

Tak care!!

Dana

Dear Kristi,

Yes, I go to a GI and rhuematologist, also followed by the transplant team at the U of Wash. I also have a primary care physican, internists, who is keeping an eye on the whole picture which helps.

My specialists generally check with each other on medication changes if there is overlap especially. It only takes a few minutes and solves the problem without bringing you into the middle of it. One time two doctors suggesting one way of dealing with something (not major) and the other suggested another way, I told my primary care dr., who I see once a month for follow up, that I chose the 2/3 majority:)

Immuran can work well for lupus also but has to be watched very carefully, I had a terrible time with it. Plaquenil is, according to my GI who's been in practice about 30 year, an old liver treatment medication which can help with AIH so he left it alone because it seemed to hold me stable for quite awhile. AIH used to be called lupoid hepatitis because they thought that the liver problems were from that. Now they've discovered, so far, that AIH is separate and lupus does affect the liver for some people.

Hope this helps and isn't to rambly!

Laurie,

Yes, I'm still losing. I've been going to the gym at least 4 times a

week and in the last month I've lost about 10 lbs, so my weight loss

has been steady. So I'm happy with where I am and I think I'll get to

where I want to be!!!

I think a second opinion would be good. RA was a diagnosis I SO did not

want, on the other hand, I wanted to be treated. And with your RA factor

being positive (mine is not), I really think that you deserve someone

who will take this seriously. Good luck :)

Kristi, Pensacola? I live in Mobile. I would LOVE to meet another bandster (other than on fill days in Mexicali). Maybe we can get together sometime when you return home. Do you have a fill doctor lined up in your area yet? There are none in Mobile but maybe you will find one there in Pensacola. From where did you recently move? This is a bad time for allergies if you are not generally from this area. The humidity, the change of weather, all that fun stuff. But, just wait until Spring if you think this is bad!! (Sorry, don't mean to sound negative!) This will sound insane but have fun when you go for your surgery. You are going to a wonderful place. I cannot begin to tell you just how lucky you are (just like the rest of us) to have found Dr. Aceves, Nina, Yolanda, , Ernesto, and even Almater Hospital. It

is a true god-send! You will NOT regret this surgery at all! Keep in touch and let's plan on getting together! I have hadthis lingering cold that won't go away and finally I made another appointment to go back to the doctor this morning to only have him put me on 4 more meds to try and clear up this allergery problem that I'm having. It's pretty bad when all you do at night is cough your head off and nothing works. Quit miserable to say the least. Anyway I woke up this morning bright and cheery at 4:45am!! Why I have no idea except the excitment of the surgery. So.......I got up had breakfast with my hubby and went to Walmart and got my liquid tylenol and vitamins. Still have to go to GNC and get my protein stuff. What flavor did you get b/c I absolutley hate anything but chocolate when it comes to those protein things so I can see some challenges already on the horizon. I

also got my sugar free jello and gatorade....Boy, I absoluetly can't wait to start eating this stuff!!!! Not really and not looking forwad to it but you do what ya gotta do. Right!!! Anyway, how are you feeling and doing? Lost anymore? I can't believe you lost 20 lbs in post op. That is like crazy!!! I hope i do as well as you have and that's I keep thinking about. Like you said I do want to be "lookin smokin" by March I would like to waer that two piece this summer that I never wore in high school. Ha!! And I am so lookin forward to wearing my jeans that fit right on the hip area...I can't wait!!! Are the surgeries in the mornings or not really anytime. There are two others that are havin surgery. We don't arrive into Mexico until 12:45pm on Thursday so I hope the others aren't pissed off with for makin them wait. We could'nt get anything sooner and Nina said go ahead and do it and she would let them know. Oh well!!!! Gotta Run got so much to get done, I will email you again later this afternoon. Thanks for thinkin of me!!! Hey- Where in the world do you live anyway? Genie, You just let me know how early you will get here and I'll run down and meet you even if it is just for a little bit of time in the parking garage! Where do you live? I haven't been on the Holiday yet. I'd love to go...Let me know. Oh, hey, if you are coming on the 19th and leaving the 20th, maybe we can at least meet for dinner. Where will you be staying for that night? Are you familiar with the area? I'd be glad to forward you my MySpace url. It's not about autism, although I send a lot of bulletins about autism through it. Some of my friends do deal with the spectrum. It's private and the people on it I actually know! lol. It's pretty eclectic.I guess it's just more about my life and what precious "me time" I have.I just don't want anybody looking at it who happens to surf the web.So do you have an address I could use to send it?<<<<<hugs>>>>>>Joni
