Everytime I try to up int by 1/2 gr I feel hyper for a few days and it is awful. I am still tired and sleepy though on 1 gr per day.. Maybe I need just the t3 - not sure.. thoughts, suggestions? I have an appointment with Dr. Ozan on Monday. steph
Guest guest
Steph, Try going a 1/4 grain up and see if you have the hyper symptoms. You may be one of those who don't tolerate "big" jumps. Have you done any Free T3 & Free T4 testing? Jan has to supplement with T4 to get her into the right T4 range. If she takes enough Armour to bring the T4 into range, it's too much T3. This works a lot of times for those who don't do a good job of converting T4 to T3. The Armour provides the right amt of T3 and the supplemental T4 brings that hormone up because your body doesn't do a good job of converting it to T3, thus you don't get overloaded with T3. Guest guest
Steph: I am one who has to increase very slowly. I can only increase 1/4 grain at a time and stay there for weeks before I introduce another 1/4 grain. > HI all!! I have been on the armour 2 weeks now - still at 1 gr. Guest guest
Hey Steph-- I've had my spouse cut my pills into four quarters with the pill cutter. I am taking 45 mg a day, plus 1/4 of a 15 mg pill. Do you think you could cut the pill into even quarters or eighths? If it were me, I might even consider holding off of the increase until you see Ozan on Monday. Especially since it is late in the week, you might not want to try anything new with the weekend upon us, as it is harder to get in touch with your regular doctor. Best wishes-- Courtenay. HI all!! Guest guest
I am going to Dr. Ozan Monday. Does anyone know if he knows about saliva testing and about testing the adrenals, female hormones, etc? steph
Guest guest
He does test female hormones and prescribes bio-identical hormones. I don't know about adrenals (but would like to). I am going to Dr. Ozan Monday. Guest guest
I brought up adrenals last visit to Ozan, so he added that to my bloodwork, but all he listed on there was a.m. cortisol & DHEA-s. I honestly haven't done enough research in that area yet to question him. Had just planned to have whatever he ordered done, then come here and ask the " experts " when I get my labs back. > > > > I am going to Dr. Ozan Monday. Guest guest
The first week I saw Dr. Ozan, when I called he answered the phone and took time to speak with me, and during my visit he was alone with his mother watching the front desk. I later found out Angie was on vacation that week. It has been harder to get thru when she's there, and I had to call a couple of times before my second visit to make sure my labs were even there. She seemed very frustrated and disorganized when I was there the second time. I got the feeling the practice may be growing beyond a " one person " office and she's a bit overwhelmed. I was also wondering if he would be willing to communicate thru email. Right now that works much better for me, because my thoughts are so disconnected these days, and I can take the time to organize them in writing. > > > > Rant on, darlin'!! > > > > I guess I'm lucky that I haven't had to have any referrals from him yet. > > Do you think he's the problem or is it his one-person office staff? Guest guest
Janet, thanks for the suggestion. Maybe that would work better for me, too. I really don't want to give up on him. I'm trying to be very honest with myself and remind myself I am very disconnected, frustrated, stressed and emotional right now, so I may not be expressing myself well in a face-to-face situation. It could be a matter of poor communication on my part. I've also been treated like a nut-case by so many docs for so many years, I think I'm probably on the defensive the minute I walk in the door! I have accepted that it may take a year for me to feel like a person again, no matter what doctor I'm seeing, so 6 weeks into treatment is probably far too soon to make judgements. I do need to give him time to familiarize himself with my body and how I respond to medications, etc. I just have to convince him that my ft's below or just at the halfway mark aren't going to cut it! Should I just suffer thru it for a few weeks, and then go back to him and convince him it's still not good enough, or should I keep pushing the issue now? > > > > > > Rant on, darlin'!! > > > > > > I guess I'm lucky that I haven't had to have any referrals from > him yet. > > > Do you think he's the problem or is it his one-person office > staff?
