Hi Lori:

Unfortunately, these meds take longer than a couple of

days to kick in - Plaquenil for me took about 2-3

months to really begin helping. Are you on any

anti-inflammatories or steroids? Those could help you

to bridge over until the Plaq begins to work. Call

your doctor and let him/her know that you are having

more pain. I have a lot of problems with my feet, and

do experience feelings of cramping in my feet and

toes, as well as lots of heat and pain. I don't walk

any more, I hobble. Actually, the other day when I

got out of my car and started to a store, hobbling and

kind of waddling because of the foot pain, it occurred

to me that I was walking just like my grandma, who

also had RA. Never thought about it at that time, but

now I know why she walked that way lol. I have a foot

bath with massager which is soothing, or just putting

your feet into cold or warm water (whichever feels

better) might help. Hang in there -

Dear Kathe:

I have only been on the Plaquenil for just shy of a week now. I am also

on prednisone, but my doctor is slowly weaning me off. By the time I am

finished with the prednisone I should have been on Plaquenil for about 6

weeks. I do have an appointment with Podiatry on January 4th to see

about getting orthotics. Hopefully that will help. It's not that I have

severe pain in my feet......yet........but they are just so

uncomfortable. It feels like I am always walking on grit and sometimes

it is painful and affects my toes.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to answer my post. I appreciate

what a sharing group this is.
