Guest guest
I think I'm going to stop taking the morphine-I'm at the 15 mg. every 8 hours point, and am nauseus and spacey, and it really isn't working that well. Have been spending more time in bed than up. Any suggestions? Thanks. Carol
Guest guest
Carol, Don't be too hasty, make sure you give it enough time for your system to adjust. 15mg isn't a lot but try reducing it to 10mg then increase as you get used to it. I have my life back since I began taking it regularly, However I take 10 mg every 12 hrs and find it hold me fairly well. I still average 2 percodan a day for breakthru. Try reducing the dose and building it up gradually not everyone absorbs medication at the same rate. I hope this helps Terry M
Guest guest
i felt the same along with a terrible migraine, and fecal impaction. the pain was gone, but the side-effects were about as bad. i was told this would decrease. oxycontin works better for me, and i have less side effects angel Re: morphine > I think I'm going to stop taking the morphine-I'm at the 15 mg. every 8 hours > point, and am nauseus and spacey, and it really isn't working that well. Guest guest
Thanks. I just dread cutting back the morphine when the epidural kicks in, then when the relief stops, having to start the morphine again. Carol

Guest guest
You're most welcome...pray you get some relief. I can't take pain meds so I have to rely on alternate therapies. Blessings, Diane R. Guest guest
Think he has oxycodone for breakthrough pain. He functions well...stays busy eating and doesn't gain a pound; spent a month w/ them and it was hazardous to my health. Gained weight! *S* Warm thoughts, Diane R. CairnMom@... wrote: > Thanks. Guest guest
I've been on methadone (sold as methadose) for a bit over a month now. I was also put on Baclofen for muscle spasms at the same time, so can't really speak as to which med is causing which side effect. I've been REALLY drowsy since I started both meds, but I'm tending to think that the Baclofen is causing that, since I get sleepy immediately after I take a middle-of-the-day dose of that. I take the methadone every 12 hrs. - just 5 mg. dose at this time. It's improved my pain levels a LOT. When I wasn't on any pain meds at all, I was probably operating between a level 8 and 9 all the time, and with the methadone I'm down to probably between levels 5 and 6. I see the doctor again this week so I'm going to talk to him about upping me to 10mg every 12 hours. I don't know if he'll go for it or not, but it's working so well at this level that I'd like to see if I can damp the pain down a bit more. I've got FMS, degenerative disc disease, osteoarthritis, several ruptured discs, and who knows what else that hasn't been dx'ed yet. I have some dizzy spells and periods of " disorientation " , but I don't know if they're from the methadone or from the FMS itself. I haven't seen any other side effects from the methadone, although some may pop up later after I've been on it awhile longer. I'll have to say though that the side effects would have to be AWFULLY severe for me to consider not taking it any more - it's improved my quality of life from being almost completely bedridden to being able to walk short distances without having to use my cane. Until and unless they give me something that works better, I'll stick with the methadone!! - At 09:05 AM 10/21/01 -0700, you wrote: >any side effects from methadone? angel
Guest guest
On one of my other groups, we had one of the members that was on the pain pump. Her name was le ( she is no longer a member ) she has a web site that is very informative and if anyone here is interested in reading about a pain pump her web site will be very helpful...The site is at http://members.tripod.com/~chartzz/ppump.html I hope no one minds me advertising the web site. But if any of the members here, have tried every pain medication out there with very little pain relief then they May be a good candidate for a pain pump... The pain pump isn't just for cancer patients and Morphine isn't the only pain medication....There are other meds that the pump can be used for... Check it out, I have it bookmarked just incase there comes a time when taking my pain meds no longer leave me pain free ( or I should say alleviates most of the pain ) Check it out you may feel you are a good candidate to get a pump.... ) .. Guest guest
Greetings: I started Methadone in the last two weeks and find I sleep alot I am hoping that I will develop some type of tolerance as my family is very concerned about the too much sleeping. I hope that I will soon decrease the sleeping as I cannot stand this sleepiness. My therapist (psychologist) has even commented about it. I am glad I opened up this email note today--it is really so helpful when I have questions about something sooner or later a message will popup to alleviate my worries.
