Guest guest
" You're a Lifesaver, Dr. Peale! " Written by Constance F. Janssen " When you get to the end of your rope, don't let go until you've read 'The Power of Positive Thinking'. " ----- " For two years after I married my high school sweetheart, we enjoyed a good life. That is, until the National Guard called my husband to serve in Vietnam. " By the time he went overseas we had two children. I became both mother and father to them and worked at a fulltime job as well. If not for the emotional support of my in-laws, I wouldn't have survived. " After serving for two years my husband returned home, totally transformed as a result of the sights and experiences he was forced to face. His best friend died in his arms. I was one of the fortunate wives; my husband came back. But the wonderful man I had married no longer existed. Between the war and his mother's death from leukemia he became an alcoholic very quickly. With the birth of our third child the following year, I really had my hands full. Every six months or so, my husband drank himself into the hospital. And by the time I turned 27, I was so unhappy that I prayed, every day, that God would take my life. I no longer wanted to live the way I was living: this was not the life I had signed up for. I had a religious upbringing and still had faith, but I soon began to hate God for not taking my life. He just kept letting me live. " At work, I would burst out crying at my desk and I had a hard time getting anything done. My boss saw my unhappiness and I'm sure he thought suicide was right around the corner for me. He was almost right. Concerned, he called me into his office and asked me to read a book he had for me. He handed me 'The Power Of Positive Thinking' by Norman Peale. " To say that it changed my life is an enormous understatement. There are no words appropriate enough to express my feelings. All I can say is THANK YOU, DR. PEALE, FOR SAVING MY LIFE. I believe that you, and my boss, were angels sent from God. " We are all here for a purpose, and that is to try to " make a difference " in someone's life. And because of the job I do, I send out a weekly message that goes to the entire work force at our site - - approximately 3,500 people. At the top of my message is a " Thought for the Week, " which is a quote I get from your " Positive Thoughts " page in POSTIVE THINKING magazine. " Now, I am joining your Positive Thinkers Club, and I hope it changes my life even more. I just love having a great outlook on life and being the most positive person I can possibly be.
