I had emailed the LaCrosse Convention Center and received a call today from someone willing to help set up the details. He said he has a few questions yet, so before I called him back I would like to tell him how many will be attending. I have some numbers, but haven't heard back from everyone since the initial survey/information I had sent out. Wow, this really is coming together, so please reply so I can let everyone know more details as to hotel/motels, activities, and such. Thank you! Money is scarce and we have to save for a wedding that is taking place in Cancun Mexico in November. Unless some kind of miracle happens I regret I will not be attending :-(. Two from Sacramento CA coming. I checked airfare and rental car prices for Chicago and DesMoines on Hotwire.com. Chicago was a bit cheaper on both. Drive time to LaCrosse similar. You are penciled in for now, and I will let the whole group know what I find out. I had a man call today from the LaCrosse Visitors and Convention Bureau with helpful information. He will need to know a " number of attendees " so I wanted a better count than the initial one I have held onto. So far, with what I heard before, and still...looks like 16-20 of us...not bad for the very first LBD Gathering. In case you missed the weekend dates...it is August 15, 15, and 17. Everyone is welcome to join all days or only 1 if that is better for their schedule. I will be passing on more info soon. By the way, I am happy to hear your mom is doing well. So, I used one of them to contact the LaCrosse Visitors and Tourist Bureau (or something like that) and within a few days had an email response, and phone call back. I will call him tomorrow with our dates, and a gestimate of head count. Hopefully I will be passing along some information soon. According to my online sources you're looking at about 4 hours of driving for 272 miles.
