Guest guest
Hi: I live in California, and my mail drug rx program has already limited what they will send me.. it is due to the problem in your state and because we are in CA. they assume it is an illegal thing. I am under the care of a Pain Management Doctor who has been very careful to limit my intake and she is now having to deal with alot of baloney from this Pharmacy..Merck-Medco.I am ready to contact my TRW benefits person and see if they can help me at all. Supposedly they are a separate entity..I just feel they are practicing medicine. This medication is the only one that ddoes not bother my stomach, we have tried many others. Guest guest
This is so true, Ray. My daughter in Wytheville ran out of oxycontin last week on the weekend. She, of course, couldn't get any. She normally gets her prescription from the VA, but they were closed for the weekend so she had to grin and bear it. They told her point blank that there was no way she would get it from the local people. It has definitely become a problem and that is such a shame for those who legitimately need it. My pain clinic doctor will not prescribe Oxycontin before trying every other pain-relief medication and combinations of such medications. Oxycontin is reserved now as a drug of last choice. This problem will only get worse as oxycontin abuse spreads throughout the country. Ray in Virginia
Guest guest
No I haven't. Codeine seems to make me itch all over. I don't know I am trying to figure out a way to beat their system. I think it is more about the money that the Drug, unfortunately in my case. The logic they are using is all screwed up everytime I call there is a different story and none of the excuses!!!!! ..... are logical. I am going to see if I can get sosme help from my husbands benefits department. I worry I will get that they are a separate entity. I don't give up easy when I feel I am being stymied. Alice.. Guest guest
Hi, There are other meds that have similar effects and some doctors have less trouble prescribing them. Also, individual reactions the the various drugs can be very different. It is now an accepted principle by the commission that regulates hospitals, the one that regulates pain clinics, and the AMA that chronic pain patients are entitled to the best relief they can get. Where this is not done, your treatment practitioners as causing you unnecessary pain & suffering. There are enforcement standards for this with the state boards of pharmacy, and they do enforce it! Please don't be shy about making it clear to your doctor that you need & are entitled to the best relief & should be spared unnecessary pain & suffering. Doctors can now be disciplined for this, in spite of whatever they think. And I am sure that many whopper malpractice suits about this are in the works. Some alternative for you might be Darvacet or other pain meds (I use darvacet), one of the several available patches, or stronger medication like methadone. You can also interview other doctors about treating you, and even if your own doctor reacts strongly to these options, it is his job to free you of symptoms to the greatest extent possible. Guest guest
Hi: I did not believe it when today I received the full amount of meds that my Doctor prescribed. I guess the 10-12 phone calls finally got through to them. I am curious as to what type of medication is received through the Patch?:.I am thinking of trying that so as to not be taking so much oral meds. I figure that it would be healthier for my intestines. Could you help me to investigate the various meds that are involved in the PATCH..I have been offered this form of help by the Doctor and I just need to check out the usage and types of meds. available in this form. Thank you for your help and support. Sincerely, Alice Torrance, CA. USA
Guest guest
HI: I am afraid that in so many cases it is the abuser of whatever means of pain relief and many other things that makes it so difficult for those of us(I think it is more the case that people want to comply with the correct usage than not) who try to comply with what is honest and legal usage. I recall that years ago we didn't have to use a check cashing card, or we had to pay at the cashier before pumping gas and so many other occasions that have been abused by the slime that creates an abundance of inconveniences for the majority. I too become enraged when I am treated like a criminal because of those who do not abide by the rules. The Oxycontin matter is a perfect example of the very matter I speak of here. The only Fair in the world is in Pomona California...a light explanation of the fact that the folk that abuse the rights given to many so that we PAY...FOR THEIR IGNORANCE.....,, It really gauls me when I am made to feel like a criminal just trying to get pain relief in a manner that allows me to function well and get pain relief so that I might be a more active human being and do so in reasonable comfort and less impact on my thinking ability. It seems to me that a petition should be considered to voice our positions.. The drug thing is only one of the many rights that are taken from us because of fools out there who ruin many things by an abuse in the matter. I would really appreciate others input of this subject matter and if others feel as I do about a minority destroying the majority of others rights. Sincerely, Alice Torrance CA. Guest guest
Applause! Applause!! Would this, in turn, be constued therefore as our disease having a disease? just a thought. Guest guest
here.... I agree. Chronic Pain and Acute surgical pain need to be treated aggressively. We have learned of the changes that take place in our bodies when pain is the tyrant of our bodies and mind, it is insidious in the way it works, and at first we are unaware of it's tendrils that start the first stages of destruction and diminishment of our bodies, minds and lives. Pain is a symptom and Pain is a disease unto itself. Be your own best advocate and help yourself get the pain relief you need and deserve. Luv and hugs Goddess Blessings
