Guest guest
Jan, I'm printing that out for my husband - he'll get a kick out of it. July, yeah, that will work. Hopefully we can get some more people to join us. We'll get that picture posted so they know we're not ogres. ;-)On 5/17/05, Jan <texasthyroid@... > wrote: One of the real treats of the meetings we have had in North Texas has been meeting the husbands. Guest guest
Jeez, I don't know, . Have you ever tried removing all the soy from your diet? It's a real pain, but when I was eating it accidentally I slept like Snow White. The last time I had soy accidentally was a soy-fed turkey on Thanksgiving. I finished my last bite, and announced to the table that I was going to bed. I didn't wake up until our guests had left, about 9 p.m. Then again, you may have used up all your spoons. I had been saving spoons for the meeting for two weeks. Courtenay. Yes! That would be good. Guest guest
Dear Courtenay: What surprised me was that there was any soy in the meat whatsoever, even more so that all the meat had been treated with soybean oil! I have read that some people aren't bothered by soybean oil even though they are bothered by soy itself so I guess I figured I'd be one of those, since it sounded a lot easier (haha)! I do eat some salad dressing with traces of it so I just don't know. You're so smart to inquire at a restaurant because it just wouldn't occur to me that soy oil would be in meat! Even turkey! Why? It seems like I'm able to eat less variety as time goes on or maybe I'm just noticing the terrible fatigue more when I do stray from the good stuff. Oh well. Better get back to work. Sigh. ~ > Jeez, I don't know, . Have you ever tried removing all the soy > from your diet? It's a real pain, but when I was eating it > accidentally I slept like Snow White. Guest guest
SOY!!!! The remedy for my insomnia!!!!! :-) I'm just joking. However, I must have had something like this for lunch, because I am about to fall out. I am struggling with all my might to keep my eyes open here at work My belly is fully and I have dream clouds circling my head and taunting me for staying awake. Guest guest
Turkey is known to be very high in Tryptophan, which is why it makes people sleep so well. BTW, it just dawned on me sitting here writing this that pork also is high in tryptophan. Hmmmmmm....... Re: Thank you Courtenay and ! Jeez, I don't know, . Guest guest
Oh ladies, what am I going to do? I'm starting to feel so hopeless. There is such a limit already on things I can eat. One thing I can apparently freely eat is meat but if I have to start ruling out turkey and pork, that only leaves fish, beef and chicken. And fish is full of mercury and beef is full of estrogens. Sigh ... I don't know what my co-workers will say when I bring my hotplate to work and start frying up t-bones for breakfast and lunch (just kidding)! :-( > Re: Thank you Courtenay and !Turkey is known to be very high in Tryptophan, which is why it makes people sleep so well. Guest guest
I have been thinking about spoons all morning. I had a long frustrating series of phone conversations with custsomer service today about my Mom's phone bill (well, the conversation was less than 5 minutes - getting to that point was the other 55!). I'm just wiped out now. I can't believe how tired that made me. I need spoons. :-) Luckily I get to go home early - after seeing stupid endo. Then again, you may have used up all your spoons. Guest guest
leoyellowrose, don't let it get you down. No food is perfect. That is why we have livers that can detoxify foods. I avoid the most dangerous fish, predators like shark, bottom feeders where the mercury concentrate and shellfish which also concentrate heavy metals. The rest of the fish are less bad. Yes, meat has those things, but it tastes good and I eat it. Also remember eggs are protein too. And when we only have fish or meat as a "side" to vegetables, I count on my liver to detox it.-C leoyellowrose wrote: Oh ladies, what am I going to do? I'm starting to feel so hopeless. Guest guest
Organic beef is pretty safe, so is organic chicken. I also eat no-preservative sausage, tuna in oil, or no-soy canned tuna from Whole Foods. As for fish, I eat Alaskan salmon and Mahi-mahi, a rather quick growing fish. I'm not so hot on pork products (individual preference). Where I get my variety is the way in which I prepare things, and my choice of vegetables. I really try to vary my seasonal veggies so that I don't get sick and tired of the same ol', same ol'. Courtenay. Oh ladies, what am I going to do? I'm starting to feel so hopeless. Guest guest
Yesterday was a doozy for me. Nothing went right. I went through all my spoons and managed to borrow a few from today, so I'll take any silverware anyone has to spare, thank you very much. Hope your spoons are replenished tomorrow, Betsy! Guest guest
The same goes for you too, Courtenay -- if I ever have a few to spare, I'm sending them your way! This whole conversation is kind of funny because I just ordered and received a complete silverware service for 12 -- this includes teaspoons, soup spoons, and ice tea spoons, 12 of each. You'd think I'd have plenty!? (The only problem is, I'll have to spread them out over 6 months ...) > Yesterday was a doozy for me. Nothing went right. Guest guest
Well, there's certainly nothing wrong with a little tryptophan, but I feel your pain, because I'm beginning to think that I'm allergic to every other thing. All those veggies on the goitrogen list, I'm still eating cooked because I've GOT to (folic acid). I do eat beans also, but I don't think I'm going to be eating them every single day. The soy I've stayed away from as much as possible, but I'm sure that it's been in some things that I'm unaware of. I'm not going to drop all those veggies and fruits, unless I'm literally having an allergic reaction to them. I've been yearning for a banana, but I know that I can't have them. Yes, it's frustrating, so I'm not going to worry too much about it, or I can't even enjoy life. What I feel about it a lot of the time is anger at the thought of not being able to enjoy these things.
