Guest guest
Jeanne, Coping with small children while you are coping with any form of chronic pain can be especially frustrating. I'm 52 and still have an almost 12 year old daughter at home. The older children are married with kids of their own. However, I am blessed this summer by having my son's three children ages 2, 4, 10 with us as their mother is ill. I'm not up to this, but will manage the best I can. I don't have RSD, but understand from this list that it is a very difficult and frustrating disease. I have Reactive Arthritis, a form of spondyloarthropathy. Sister diseases are Ankylosing Spondylitis, Psoriatic Arthritis, and Inflammatory Bowel Disease with arthritis. I also have Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Sjogrens Syndrome and Raynauds Phenomena. I have had Reactive Arthritis (also known as Reiters Syndrome) since at least age 10. I'm 52 and only began to get help with the pain through a pain clinic just less than two years ago. I have my next appointment this Friday and expect changes in medications and doseages. I must say that the pain medications do help make the pain tolerable, but as most of us know, medication never gets rid of all the pain. Though the ReA (Reactive Arthritis) is still as busy as ever, Fibromyalgia is predominant now as far as pain is concerned. I can hardly stand to be touched by anyone. Repetitive motions are excruciating. I will not give in to the pain and still maintain our home, yard, and my large wildflower, and perennial borders by myself. Exercise is important. I'm sure you will enjoy the discussions on the list. Not every post is responded to, especially during the summer when people are involved with vacations, family, and outside activities. Hang in there. We often have some very lively exchanges over some topics. Ray in Virginia moderator
Guest guest
Dear Jeanne, No, no - it's not true that no one wants to talk to you. The problem (or at least mine) was that I haven't been getting a lot of my mail, sometimes only 1 or 2 messages in 8 hrs (and I am in several groups - one for each disease/illness/syndrome etc.) so didn't even know you had joined the group! What does RSD stand for? I'm not familiar with that acronym. I have Norton, which so far has been great, although it didn't tell me about the Hahaha virus. So I would love to hear about avg - and you. Jo Attachments to messages > Several people recently have attempted to send attachments with posts to the > list. Guest guest
Thanks Ray In VA I am glad to know someone is here , heheehe....I am a motor mouth an dlove to talk to whom ever wants to talk..I also know the summer has people going on vacations and treatments (those all year long) and just doing things for themselves or with friends or family.. I pretty well have no outside family here but one older daughter and she has her own life and most of the time I am not part of that... As you are aware with kids, you are busy all day long , doing house work and then redoing house work, seems like this job never gets done...I say redone because I get my home done and ready for the day and they bring in their friends and come behind me and mess it up, they do that really good and right on time too. " Its a never ending battle. My legs have been swollen for a week and this is bascially the first time this has happened and then stayed that way for so long..The dr. thought i had a blood clot and so sent me in for a Doppler Ultrasoound to have it checked it out but found nothing.. But in turn, told me i was a canidate for blood clots.. so he wanted me to go home and sit with my legs up and stay that way for a week.. this is course to me was a joke,, oh sure with kids that age?? i can just see them running the house.. No Thank You.. hehehe gee you mentioned about raynoids phenomanan i have this, mylofacial, ms, rsd, fibro, hodgkins, and colegins disease,, there are others but i can't get my mind to work.. i love my garden and go out there as much as i can.. the heat this year took my little bitty garden already, but i will try this again next year.. the only area in this duplex is directly in the sun and so things were burnt out right away.. boohoo.. my front yard i have roses, and i put some border plants in Silver Mound.. which i think is beautiful ., i have my very own lemon tree i have growing in my house.. this is my baby, cause i planted a lemon seed about yrs ago and it frew.. it is about 4 ft high now and hates the outdoors... i havemy brood of birds i raise, and pamper they besides my kids are the light of my life. my cockatials give me kisses when i feed them and tell me thank you.. they are so neat.. well i didn't mean to make this a book, so i will get back to the rest of the mail.. nice meeting you and hope to get to know you more through the days, months and years to come... > Jeanne, Mike And Shayla. > Our Feathered Family > & Sammy Cocktails > Angel & Simon Parakeets > Prince & > Princess Cassie Parakeets > & & & & & & & & & & & & & & & & & & & & & & & & & & & & & & & > You can contact me on > ICQ 4972389 > Paltalk Acheiva97 > Aim Mumzy57 > Msn Mumzy@... Guest guest
Hi Jeanne, Welcome to the group. I saw your original post and didn't get a chance to respond until now. I can just imagine trying to rest and keep my legs up and still try to keep the house in order! Yeah, right! I'm a househusband now, and try my best to keep order in our part of the universe. Sometimes I get close to success. My post to Lin listed my ailments, for the most part, so I won't bore you with repetition. I've been able to keep up with my gardens, for the most part. we had almost the entire yard rototilled and replaced the grass with flower beds and a small garden -- tomatoes, peppers and strawberries. I just put the strawberries in this year and last night picked the first ripe berry! I've taken to going out to do my garden work around 5 am. Sure beats trying to tolerate the heat and humidity. I hope you find some helpful info here. Hower Central Pennsylvania http://users.supernet.com/hower

Guest guest
Hi (person with a name?) I can understand your distress. But to answer your question, instead of bending, put one knee on the floor to get down to & up from that level. You also need to strengthen the columns of muscle along the sides of your spine to partly compensate for the dismal disks. (I have hardly any disks at all). A good physical therapist or chronic pain victim or chiropractor can tell you how to do this. So can various other medical specialties. Just how good is your medical care? There also could be a possibility that a fusion operation would repair the damage. In fusion, some bone slivers are taken from your hip and place between the affected vertebrea to return space & support. They quickly fuse with your spine, creating strong support with a little loss of flexibility; and generally stop/reduce pain. Guest guest
Heelo glad you are a member, and happy to met you, I have gone through the same think you have, I have been dealing with mine since 96 and still haveing chronic pain, the first thing you need to do is get into a pain clinic, it is very hard when two in the family is sick, my husband has a bad heart and suffers daily he was raped up into his ilness he did not have time for mine he refuses to think of me as ill. so I had to be strong for my self and if your wife supports you with your pain great, you need to be supportive of each other, and with both of you ill and 2 small children, need to for sure see about a pain clinic, pain can make you mean, it does me and you need to learn not to let the children see it, if you need any support I am here or any one in this group. Hang in there and I will be saying a prayer for you and family, May God Bless each of you. Marilyn (hopeful) Glad you join, hang in there, it will take patients if any thing.
