Guest guest
My solution was expensive. I got a front loading washer. Washer and dryer controls are on the front, not the back of the top. I had that on the first front loader and sure doesn't help with all that stretching. Had a big cement block poured to raise the height of the machines and now I am good to go. My problem with the top loaders is that I can't use any weight to pull things up because of my spine. Worst being the upper part. If my hip and lower part of spine is bad I can just sit on a chair and load and unload. I also have a rolling cart. Makes life so much easier than lugging baskets (even for a short distance) around the room. If anything is too heavy for me like wet blankets and quilts, hubby does it for me. Warning for those thinking of getting a front loader with the extra base on the bottom......DON " T! The installer says they spend lots of time going to homes to repair the washers than have come off those bases. Problem is the action of the washer loosens the screws and the washer on many occasion has fallen off the base. So when are they going to make a dishwasher that is handicap accessable??? It is easier for me to wash dishes by hand. Unfortunately, it takes time that I could spend doing other things. I seem to get slower as this disease progresses. Hubby, the good guy that he is, does the dishwasher for me, but he has a job that just melts him and I hate to see him having to do my work too when he gets home. He's not perfect. He cranks every now and then. Can't blame him. I would too if I had to do all that he has to do for me. Some days it is just too much for anyone. in Ct. yasdnilnoyl wrote: > Ok, so maybe some of you have already had this idea I had tonight, but > I thought I'd share just in case you didn't. > > I was attempting to do laundry.
