What an awful experience. It sounds like this doctor is getting paid

to disqualify people rather

then make an honest determination of your health. I hope you own

doctor's reports will

count for more than this government doctor's. I can't blame you for

being angry.

I hope and pray that everything works out for you.

Hopefully what the Dr. said won't count for anything.

I am in the process of filing for disability... I have been denied once and am

now appealing with a lawyer. A few months into the process they had me see one

of their docs... he never touched me... didn't look me in the eyes... asked me

my age.. asked if I smoked... told me I was overweight (he coulda used a few

less donuts also) and walked out... He spent no more than 3 minutes in there

with me.... I know how frustrating it can be when we have to put our livelihood

in the hands of some jerks who don't know us, don't care about us, and couldn't

care less if we need to feed our children. I hope that this doesn't turn into

too much of a struggle for you and I pray that your doctors help ease you

through this process.

, I just bet that your having to go up that flight of stairs was part of

the test. You shouldn't have done it at least without help from someone there.

The ADA says there has to be handicap access to all areas in Federal/Government

buildings. I would suggest you don't be so cooperative in the future. BTDT! I'm

sorry it didn't go better, but there's still hope.

Hi everyone,

I had to go to a government doctor today in the second step to applying for

a disability pension.... when I got to the rooms believe it or not I was asked

to go up a flight of stairs to the doctors rooms.....that put me in a bad mood

to begin with...then the doctor who I was with for a total of eighteen minutes,

started firing his questions, filing in his forms as I answered hardly looking

at me not taking the time to actually listen to me, he did however say a total

of three times that I am " so young " to be looking at having to apply, he also

implied that if they(the doctors) were able to fix my right wrist( which I have

damaged the tendon to ) I would be fine for work......He didn't look at my

hands, feet,knees or anything!!!!!

The last time I felt this angry was when I found out I had RA..

I'm sorry but I need a good whinge I have RA,Raynards and Fibromyalgia, and

as most of you have probably experienced there are days when I wonder which is

worst the diseases or the medications and the effects they have on my body.

But shit how could this guy know what I am experiencing in an eighteen

minute talk session with lots of the questions not even relating to my health.

Thanks for listening

They ARE paid to find reasons to deny you, make no mistake. But Kerri

Sue, what happened to you is the best thing that possibly could have

happened -- if he didn't examine you, how can he make any independent

findings? Did you have a witness? Did someone drive you there who

can say how long you were in the room with him? Go sit down right

now and write down everything you remember about the visit -- how

long it was, what he said, that he never once touched you, etc.

By the way, obesity is a comorbid condition. You may be insulted,

but obesity + RA is better than just RA if you want disability. They

recognize that the extra weight puts additional strain on your joints.

Do you have a lawyer? If so, I hope he's telling you this too. And

if not, and you're appealing, you need one.

I have no witnesses to that visit...but I do have a lawyer now... he only took

the case because he thought he could win it (his win rate in SSD is 95%). my

diagnosis are fibromyalgia, chronic severe migraines, Rheumatoid arthritis,

metabolic syndrome, persistant tachycardia, chronic hematuria, and CFS. I take

12-16 different meds everyday. My Gp stated I can not work full time, my rheumy

stated my illnesses negatively effect every aspect of my life and they have

significantly reduced my quality of life. they have my medical records and

such,,, but I'm only 28, I have two small children and I know they hate to see

people like me show up in the welfare line because they think we can be out

there working. I've really just had to not think about it as the hearing comes

closer. Right now I'm leaving it in Gods and my lawyer's hands because I've done

what I can do. Whether or not they rule in my favor I will not be returning to

work... so I guess I'll appeal year after year after year...

they'll get so sick of me they'll pay me just to go away, lol... thank you for

your reply
