How to organize your child's records-

Educational, medical, financial, and a portfolio

June 3, 2006

If you have kids with special education/medical needs, you can be

overwhelmed by the paperwork in no time at all. Our speakers will discuss

some guidelines regarding how long to keep and organize important documents

and how to review, manage and file your child’s financial plan. We will also

learn how to build a child’s portfolio to emphasize abilities and strengths.

Pam Weber: Educational Diagnostician, Consultant and Advocate:

How to request educational records; what documents to keep and for how long;

how to file them; etc.

Glenda Estill: R.N., and Clinic Coordinator, Texas ish Rite Hospital:

Organize medical files to share with doctors and staff; what to take to the

emergency room; etc.

Boomstein, Special Care Planner:

How to plan for your child’s financial life; goals and strategies; basic

documents to create, review and file

Gillis, Parent Advocate and “Partners in Policy Making” graduate:

How to build a child’s portfolio to identify unique interests and skills;

what information to include

Our meetings are free and open to the public
