Guest guest
Hi Zurama, Has your child been scoped by a GI doctor? It sounds like he may have, at the very least, some acid reflux issues. The crying and sleeping sitting up scream acid reflux. Our son was scoped years ago and Dr. Hart found scar tissue in his esophagus where he had literally burned for years and was unable to tell us. He got relief after two doses of Prevacid. Are you currently working with a DAN! doc? Pamela " Courage is doing what you're afraid to do. There can be no courage unless you're scared. Guest guest
It is never too late. Ever. A mom on this site the other day started when her child was nine - now fully recovered at 13. Perhaps you should find out who her DAN is as that doctor has already overseen the recovery of a late starter. As for Stan Kurtz, Ethan's dad...heart of gold. Go to TACA and do a search for his name - that will get you to a clear paper on exactly what he did for his boy and why....get breaking the vicious cycle, a book that explains the Simple Carb Diet or just go to Pecanbread site online for the diet ammended to help those with autism....start with the diet, don't get sidetracked - nothing - no supps, no services, no chance for recovery IMO in a child with a gut so severly damaged that they present as severely autistic......THINGS CAN RETRIEVE A CHILD ONCE THE GUT AND IMMUNE SYSTEM ARE BEING ADDRESSED Stan's approach, in a nutshell, is comprehensive....SCD minus casein diet intervention, probiotics, antivirals, antifungals, and antibacterials...his is a go to war mentality that includes real medical intervention/treatment vs mere diagnosis - and sometimes treatment for what will always remain undiagnosed until we know far more about viruses, microbes etc.. by way of pharm drug RXs as well as supps and vits...but the meds were HUGE in terms of his son's complete recovery. Please let me know how it goes for you. Good luck and God bless...Di > > Hello everyone: > > I am knew to this group. Guest guest
Sleeps sitting up is a sign of acid reflux often very severe....Dr Hart scoped another child on this site or Biomedheads and found scar tissue in the esophagus undiagnosed acid reflux for two years!!! An RX of a drug beginning with P - prevacin I believe sorted this issue in two doses....LOL DI > > Hello everyone: > > I am knew to this group. Guest guest
welcome zurama my son lost is dx 3-4 weeks ago now, and he was serverly autistic and dxedat 22 months of age as well. some of things I don't see to mabey look at is doing an IGG test, culturelle has trace amounts of casein which was enough to mess with my kid and we switched to detox support and complete by klaire labs also sold by prothera. was the allergy tesitng you had done IGE?? done by blood or skin testing??? best is skin test on a 1-5 scale NOT a negitive possitive, and then doing an IGG blood test. they are only 113 dollars through alletess with a signed slip from a dr on 98 foods. you can also do it through lab corp with out a dr, at a slightly higher price. if you order the kit for 10 dollars they can give you a name of dr in your area that will sign the paper for you. my son is named levi and is 6 now,......we also was very low functioning and non verbal, don't give up hope. we are day trained and loose training when strep comes into play and not yet night trained......that improved for us with zinc, probotics, finding out our sons IGG issues and takeing those things out, and rotating to prevent from other things. we have done NO HBOT, and only did 2 rounds of chlation years ago and he has dumped on his own as we have refinded his suppliments and nutrition. healing his body from the inside out. welcome and hope we can help you help your little one......they ALL deserve what we can do to get them back. ps have you had titers also checked to see if there is an issue there? Guest guest
I am glad you told me about the Culturelle, because It's an it's way, so he has not taken it yeat. I stopped his pro-biotics from the local health store, because it contain Casein. He has been on the GFCF diet since June of 2003 and it stopped that horrible diahrrea. He still cannot handle Casein or Gluten. His Allergy test I guess was useless. It was a blood test through Loma University, that showed that he was not allergic to Milk or any thing else. Thank Goodness I ignored it and took him off milk and cereals. The way I confirmed it was by having an immune panel done through his pediatrician at the time and then going to a Gastro dod in Riverside Califonia and showing him the test. He said no dairy for him and it also showed low IgA which makes him prone to intestinal infections according to this doctor, but after running some test himself he said that there were no parasites or yeast issues for Mickie, which I know is incorrect, but that's what the conventional test said. I know he is hurting......Last night he cried for two hours and didn't feel better until I gave him some Mylanta (which I hate doing, because of the Aluminum in it, but I just could watch him cry anyomore) I hope to learn from all of you, and help my little boy feel better soon. I live two hours from the Mexican border.....I've even thought of visiting a doctor over there and soon. Sincerely, Zurama > > welcome zurama my son lost is dx 3-4 weeks ago now, and he was serverly autistic and dxedat 22 months of age as well. some of things I don't see to mabey look at is doing an IGG test, culturelle has trace amounts of casein which was enough to mess with my kid and we switched to detox support and complete by klaire labs also sold by prothera. was the allergy tesitng you had done IGE?? done by blood or skin testing??? best is skin test on a 1-5 scale NOT a negitive possitive, and then doing an IGG blood test. they are only 113 dollars through alletess with a signed slip from a dr on 98 foods. you can also do it through lab corp with out a dr, at a slightly higher price. if you order the kit for 10 dollars they can give you a name of dr in your area that will sign the paper for you. my son is named levi and is 6 now,......we also was very low functioning and non verbal, don't give up hope. we are day trained and loose training when strep comes into play and not yet night trained......that improved for us with zinc, probotics, finding out our sons IGG issues and takeing those things out, and rotating to prevent from other things. we have done NO HBOT, and only did 2 rounds of chlation years ago and he has dumped on his own as we have refinded his suppliments and nutrition. healing his body from the inside out. welcome and hope we can help you help your little one......they ALL deserve what we can do to get them back. ps have you had titers also checked to see if there is an issue there? > New to the group! 10 year old son with severe autism > > > Hello everyone: > > I am knew to this group. Guest guest
" The crying and sleeping sitting up scream acid reflux. He got relief after two doses of Prevacid. " This is so true. My little guy started regressing and seeking tons of oral input. I told his speach therapist that I suspected reflux. She said his sensory seeking behavior was consistent with reflux. I gave him a couple of Tums and he stopped for an hour or two. He now takes Prevacid. Since your child is older, you might want to try one of the OTC products for reflux. I suffer from reflux myself and take Prilosec once a day, which works like a dream. Untreated reflux can also cause asthma flares and post nasal drip tickly coughs. I have both of these problems, and keeping reflux under control has gone a long way in fixing these other problems. I understand the financial issue. I've no opted for alot of the tests, so I can afford supplements/special foods. Having said that, does your child receive SSI? Even if you make too much money to get money from SSI, qualifying should give your child a Medicaid card. There are also waiver programs that will give your child a medical card, if they meet the requirements, regardless of what you make. Last, you can always look for a local doctor and try to educate him or her. Kim ________________________________________________________________________________\ ____ Never miss a thing. Guest guest
I would go on the internet (for example here is the companion site to Dr Bock's book: http://www.4ahealing.com/) and print out a summary of the science behind bio-med. Then I would ask for a anti-fungal trial. If you get results from this, you may be able to convince him to do something else. Or, you could change doctors. I would imagine that California would have alot to choose from. DOs, as opposed to MDs are more naturalistically inclined, so you may want to look for a DO. Also, if your insurance will cover chiropractic, take your child to one. They're more naturalistically incline (for example most don't vax their kids) and may be able to refer you to a sympathetic doc. Lastly, most DAN doctors are originally just pediatricians. Check the ARI website list of your local DAN doctors against your insurance list of approved physicians. You may find someone on both lists. Good luck to you. I hope you can find a sympathetic doctor soon. Kim --- Zurama wrote: > He has medi-cal, but I can't get our current > doctor to do anything for > him. > How do I start convincing him? Guest guest
nope find a new dr. can anyone out there recommend one to her? our DAN is in KS< but there is a flying program you could go see him for like 30 dollars to get there and then he does cash discounts and payment plans with no interest, we had out of state insurance as well and that was how we did it. he was great to work with. we paid like 10-50 dollars a month Re: New to the group! 10 year old son with severe autism He has medi-cal, but I can't get our current doctor to do anything forhim. Guest guest
Absolutely give him “Changing the Course of Autism” By Jepson, MD. I bought it for my pedi a couple of months ago. I’m hoping next time I see him he’ll have read it. But on another note since your son has such gut issues wont he refer you to at least a GI doc? If a child has GI issues no matter what their diagnosis a competent pedi should listen to your concerns and refer you to a GI. You had a pretty good list going of supps and stuff. But I didn’t see any antibacterial or antifungal in particular. I saw the probios but maybe something more specific for bacteria and Candida. I just saw someone post a really nice looking new fungus protocal from Brainchild. Maybe you could take a look at it. It actually made me go out and buy the cell food. http://www.brainchildnutritionals.com/PDF/Candida.pdf Also, there are viral issues you might be able to address with OLE and an antifungal rotation.
