Guest guest
Trina, I just recently investigated this for my 13 year old son. He is about to start high school and is into sports, so I had to make a decision. What I found is that the new Tdap does have thimerosal (in trace amounts). However, the older vaccine which is Td and is for Tetanus and Diphtheria only without the Petrussis (whooping cough) has actually less of a trace than the new one, so I opted for the Td. My experience is that the nurse/doctor knows the least about vaccines and you have to do the research yourself. As for the rash, my son did not get any and it was uneventful. you should contact VAERS yourself. I would not rely on the doctor's office. Guest guest
Hi Trina, This is just my 2 cents worth, but I would contact VAERS and I would insist the doctor record the reaction. Whether or not he/she believes the reaction to be from the vaccine, it did occur after the shot. This is why I do not vaccinate any more. I am so tired of all the games they play. Jeanette Tdap no thimerisol Hi everyone, Last week I took my 12 year old NT into see his pediatrician for a physical for football. He has needed the tetanus shot for a couple of years but because of the thimerisol I have not agreed to give it to him. My doctor told me that he had a new version which consists of tetanus, pertussis, and diphtheria that does not contain thimerisol and is not a live virus. The only other option I was told was to get just a tetanus shot but it had a trace of thimerisol. We went ahead and did the Tdap shot. (it's new for children older than 11) My son complained of an itchy rash on his belly the next day that I also discovered on his back. I called the pediatrician and the nurse said this is not a vaccine reaction because it would be localized to the injection sight and we should just take Benadryl. Hmmm. She called back later and said she would get a RX for the rash if it is really bothersome. What gives? Is this kind of reaction why VAERS is never contacted? Do I contact them myself? Or could the rash just be a heat rash and I'm just a paranoid parent. Anyone? Trina ________________________________________________________________________ Check out AOL.com today.
