Hi folks,

We are playing around with taking credit cards for the HDHP until

we ensure that the deductible has been met. We are experimenting with

imprinting their credit card ($15 manual imprint machine), then once

we get the EOB, running it through the authorization machine. That

way you have their signature and card imprint. That imprint is valid

for 30 days, after 30 days is it good, but they have grounds to

dispute.) My understanding is that if you just take their CC number,

without an imprint or a signature, you will lose the money if they

dispute the charge. This way they don't have grounds to dispute the

charge. (I also call their insurance company and find out if they

have hit their deductible-- they give you data as of the day you call

so you know if you charge them or bill the co.)

You can get good credit card rates through the AMA (1.63% check

card, 2.06% credit card)which are cheaper than the 3% listed in an

earlier email. (We were quoted 3% by our local bank, also).

A known PayPal problem is that if there is an issue, you are

stuck. PayPal has kept all the money in the acct. and there is no

human being in customer service-- this is a well-known PayPal concern

and some people refuse to use PalPal because of it.
