Many of our kids do so much better while

on Diflucan and Flagyl. Some

doctors recommend pulse dosing with

both to try to keep gut in decent shape.

Question: I have a prescription for Flagl to help with the supposent Clostrida bacteria that was spotted on the oats test, but never on a comprehensive stool sample. Okay, I have been hesitant about giving it after reading some of the side effects....One of the things listed was if you have intenstinal or stomach issues and that kind of scared me, because my child has major gut issue's if not on enzyme's like cramping etc. Does anyone have a child with severe gut issue's that have done fine on it...and how long were they on it...

Yes, my son had severe gut issues and what seemed like uncontrollable

candida. We battled Clostridia twice and used Flagyl/metronidazole.

Yeast was an ongoing battle for almost 2 yrs and required RX

antifungals until about a month ago. If you only treat yeast, you can

run into trouble since clostridia can take over the gut where yeast

has vacated.

I have read posts where peple have mentioned that you can use high

dose saccharmyces boulardi with high dose probiotics to battle

clostridia, but we didn't go that route with I did not have the

patience for a wait and see approach. I just wanted the clostrdia to

be gone as soon as possible.
