Guest guest
Mel: I've noticed that my RA cycle seems to be that I am in a " flare " for about 3 weeks out of the month. I tend to have about 5-7 days where my symptoms are less prominent and the pain eases up a bit. I will sometimes sleep 16-18 hours out of the day during this time, if I can. I think it's my body's way of trying to recover from the drain a flare puts on my system. Take care, > hi guys > just wondering when you get the fatigue? > i am really tired today but my hands and everything have been feeling great for the past couple of days so i think i'm coming out of the flare period > does this make sense or do you get the tiredness when you're in the flare period > thanks in advance > mel > >

Guest guest
Hi Mel! I'm tired 75% of the day when not in a flare and 110% when I am in a flare. When I think back to when I was a child I remember people calling me lazy because I was tired all the time.I even grew up thinking I WAS lazy because of being tired all the time.I have always worked.I worked 3 jobs at 1 time when the children were small (was a single mom)so I can't believe I let myself think that for so long.It was quite a relief to find out I had RA because I then had a reason for being so tired all the time. You better believe I went aruond telling all those people that called me lazy too.My dad felt the worse because he has seen how bad I have gotten and feels bad not for not believing me when I was little. Get LOTS of rest it realy helps. It is the hardest for me but helps the most.Take Care!-Tammy---- In , " P Wheeler " <pmwheeler@o...> wrote: > hi guys > just wondering when you get the fatigue? > i am really tired today but my hands and everything have been feeling great for the past couple of days so i think i'm coming out of the flare period > does this make sense or do you get the tiredness when you're in the flare period > thanks in advance > mel > >

Guest guest
Wow, This seems to fit me exactly. I slept a lot this past weekend, more than I ever have before. I couldn't believe it. I did not get out of bed until 7 pm on Saturday. I was then back in bed at 2 am and slept until 11 am Sunday morning. It is a relief to see that I am not the only one. I can already feel changes, that another flare is coming. So far, I am lucky to get three days per month but that is an improvement over no days per month. Guest guest
hi guys it's been a while since i posted i know just saw my rheumy for the first time last week, he STILL couldn't dx me but he said he was pretty sure i had ra. he was amazed that my rf levels had changed so much (68 down to 33 in 3 weeks). he said that if i did have ra i'd know within 3 months cause i'd get all the symptoms and he didn't need to see me unless that happened i have been so so tired this weekend, really fatigued (haven't had this before, only 5 years ago when i was pregnant) and my hands are a bit sorer than usual (still only 20% off normal if i can remember what normal is) how long does this fatigue last? is it permanent or just in a flare? i am pretty down at the moment cause i was coasting along just fine except for the slight soreness in my hands thanks guys mel
Guest guest
hi gina i didn't consider a 2nd opinion no, do you think i need to get one? i know that RA is pretty hard to diagnose, which is why i wasn't worried about not having a firm diagnosis. I'm not on any drugs (apart from blood pressure ones) so can't contribute the fatigue to that, just hope it goes soon! cheers mel > > > Mel, > > Have you considered getting a second opinion? > > Fatigue is a terrible, complex, and common problem for the members in our group. Guest guest
Mel, I think I would get another opinion since early, aggressive treatment is warranted if it is RA. Has your current rheumatologist prescribed any medication? Not an MD I'll tell you where to go! Mayo Clinic in Rochester http://www.mayoclinic.org/rochester s Hopkins Medicine http://www.hopkinsmedicine.org [ ] Re: from mel > hi gina > i didn't consider a 2nd opinion no, do you think i need to get one? > i know that RA is pretty hard to diagnose, which is why i wasn't > worried about not having a firm diagnosis. > I'm not on any drugs (apart from blood pressure ones) so can't > contribute the fatigue to that, just hope it goes soon! > cheers > mel > >> > >> > hi guys >> > it's been a while since i posted i know >> > just saw my rheumy for the first time last week, he STILL > couldn't dx >> > me but he said he was pretty sure i had ra. >> > he was amazed that my rf levels had changed so much (68 down to > 33 in >> > 3 weeks). >> > he said that if i did have ra i'd know within 3 months cause i'd > get >> > all the symptoms and he didn't need to see me unless that > happened >> > >> > i have been so so tired this weekend, really fatigued (haven't > had >> > this before, only 5 years ago when i was pregnant) and my hands > are a >> > bit sorer than usual (still only 20% off normal if i can > remember what >> > normal is) >> > how long does this fatigue last? is it permanent or just in a > flare? >> > i am pretty down at the moment cause i was coasting along just > fine >> > except for the slight soreness in my hands >> > >> > thanks guys >> > mel

Guest guest
Hi Mel- Actually is 13-you are thinking of Sam I bet.Atleast I am not the only one getting mixed up around here.lol So many new people and such-hard to remember whos who, and who had what, or who is having what.lol has had 2 operations in the past year, lap and open so thats why I was saying that once I knew what procedure you had I would tell you what he was able to eat. With lap you can eat anything soft no spicy though.Soups, potatoes and gravy, pudding, eggs, jello, oatmeal, anything like this that is soft and mushy. even got hung up on Dirty rice from Bojangles. Not sure if yall have one of those around or not but its rice with little bits of sausage and made like a meal for him. That depends if you can tolerate that or not but it was a few weeks before he attempted that, some people have problems with Rice though. You will just have to see how it goes for you.Just go slow and gradually work your way up to normal stuff.Stay away from the bread for now too. You will be up to par just in time for spring! Take care and get ya some of that fresh air you were talking about!!
