Guest guest
It will be easier for people on the list to make a recommendation if they know the general area you're in. Also, unless your school is asking for the assistance, they may not be real willing for an " outsider " to come in and give advice. Tonya Autism Specialist/Consulant ? Our child just recently got a diagnoses from the School District of PDD/Autism. He will be 6 in September. He will be going to Kindergarten. My Questions are do you know of any Autism Specialist/Consulant that we can have come out to our home and to the school our son will be going to help guide us and his teacher's to what all we need to do to make sure he is getting what he needs and getting the right treatment and education. Thank you! Have a great day! : ) Texas Autism Advocacy www.TexasAutismAdvocacy.org Texas Disability Network Calendar of Events www.TexasAutismAdvocacy.org

Guest guest
I would suggest you find a behavior analyst (www.bacb.com), click on consumer and look for the behavior analyst list--you need to find a BCBA (board certified behavior analyst.) Be warned that just like every profession, different BCBAs have different areas of focus-- some have more experience with younger kids some work more with severe behavior problems, some will have more experience with severe SIBs some work more with early word learners (less than 30 spoken words) some work better with kids who are already speaking some have a psychological background some have a special ed background and there are more. You need to be an informed consumer and get a BCBA who will approach things in a way that you will be able to follow through with. Also, depending on where you are, you can get help from the Brent Woodall foundation. They have offices in houston and dallas. www.woodallkids.org S. Autism Specialist/Consulant ? Guest guest
Have you checked into Austin/San resources? As someone else recommended, go to the BCBA web site and search for one in the area. Also, I will be down in the Seguin area in a couple of weeks to visit my family. (As I said in my other e-mail, I live in Southlake, but grew up in Seguin.) I would love to have lunch with you if you need someone just to talk with. Judith Ursitti > > Our child just recently got a diagnoses from the School District of > PDD/Autism. Guest guest
I have two great people in mind for you. THey are great working with families. They are most definitely family oriented and not school oriented, which I think is good. One lives in Austin and one in the Dallas area. Where do you live? Autism Specialist/Consulant ? Guest guest
We live in the Mineral Wells Independent School District. We are located about 50 minutes west of Fort Worth. Although we bare the majority of the ABA work and the expense, our local school system has hired our analyst on a limited basis as a consultant to assist setting up the classroom experience for our son. I realize that this is pretty unusual. The local special education department has cooperated in many respects.
