  • 5 years later...

I began a post and somehow lost it. Don't know if I posted or not. I

have been contacted by a study group in Fredrick, MD about a study

beginning Jan. 30, 2006. It's a gene transfer agent, TGAC94 is the

agent, which is injected in an imflammed joint. The hope is it is

injected with some kind of a virus that would hopefully decrease

inflammation in that joint and then the agent would move to other

inflammation in other parts of my body. I have a 3 out of 4 chance of

getting the drug and not the plasebo (sp). I can remain on all my

current meds, Humira and MTX for the RA. (BTW I have been on MTX for 1

1/2 years, both injectable and tablets weekly and have had NO hair loss)

I just wondered if anyone had any info, experience with studies,

opinions or thoughts about this. I know this is kind of vague. I just

spoke with a rep today and she is mailing me more information, so I

should know more soon.

Tess and Ken ( and anyone else having surgery in the near future) I

will prayfor a safe, successful and complication free surgery. After

what you have both been through, you deserve a little less drama with

surgeries and some success as well.

Tess, what is a panniculectomy? I am sorry that you have to go off

Humira and MTX before surgery. There was another study that I applied

for but they wanted me to go off the same meds 4 weeks before the study

and stay off for 3 more months. I was afraid I might get some joint

damage as I feel my RA is very aggressive. With your depression, I will

say extra prayers for your health and state of mind. I find it hard to

be " happy " in the winter time. It's cold, dark and I hurt more than I

did earlier in the year.

Gentle hugs and my wishes for a happy holiday season.

Colleen
