Guest guest
Hi, My son has no vaccinations whatsoever, and has had very little antibiotic use, but really benefitted from antiviral therapy. Valtrex helped but it was quite a difficult challenge with behaviors, etc. Then after doing that twice and eventually not getting the desired results, I introduced OLE and Virastop and it was a night and day difference. I credit these for helping him to finally become fully verbal and understandable to everyone else. In fact, I did it for 8-9 months a year and a half ago and I am waiting to re-start in about 1 month to see if it aids in clearing up some residual issues. Since every child's issues may be different, I think it's worth a try. Good Luck!
Guest guest
No, it is not only for children that have had vaccines. You can be viral without having had vaccines. As a matter of fact, we didn't even check titers for any of the vaccine viruses. CherylI am wondering if the antiviral approach is mostly for vaccinated children. When a child is given a shot with both a virus and a toxin like mercury, for example. And that may be behind the trigger for some children....but my son never got a single vaccine or anti-biotic. Is he not a potential responder to Valtrex, then? Danitza, Kauai,Hawaii
Guest guest
Hi, I am new to the group and my daughter has been on Valtrex for 10 months and plateaued. Our DAN! told me to start OLE and Virastop as well. Did you start them at the same time with the Valtrex? Thank you for your time We did have the vaccinations but no antibiotics. Guest guest
Thanks for the reply, Cheryl. What titers did you test for? Have you subsequently tried anti-virals? My other concern is that the pharmacies that take my insurance only have pharmaceuticals that have all these additives and preservatives. Like parabens as preservatives and flavorings. I get so tired of finding chemicals in everything! D. > > > I am wondering if the antiviral approach is mostly for vaccinated > > children. Guest guest
Thanks Emmy. I got a prescription for acyclovir and we will see. He is also on generic Diflucan. I bought OLE as well and thoght I might rotate it in. But I keep hearing about Virastop. I have not researched it yet. Is that a natural antiviral? Guest guest
I'm new to the group too. What a great source of support and information! How old is your daughter and did she have a regression initially? D. > > Hi, > I am new to the group and my daughter has been on Valtrex for 10 months and plateaued. Guest guest
She is 5yo and did not regress significantly. She was definitely different from her 17mo sister from birth. She did have a reaction to the MMR and I had the RhoGAM shot and dental amalgams. She was diagnosed at 18 months PDD and at 3yo autism. We are still trying to find her recovery path. I know I will find it! We just started the MB-12 shots with no avail so far. We are 8 shots into it. Has anyone had success after this long? I am an immediate gratification kind of person. Not the best personality trait for mother's like us. After reading about Mr. Kurtz, I will ask about the nasal spray from my DAN! doc. You can get a clean compound for some of them. There are also several pharmacies online that can help you if they don't carry some of the brands you want. Hopewell, Lee Silsby, Park to name a few off the top of my head. But you have to keep in mind that some of the drugs are not made by many companies. Guest guest
I hear you, I want instant results too. I have not embarked on a MB12 path, but I am open to it if the path (antiviral/antifungal/diet/supplements) I am on dead ends. All the best to you! Guest guest
My child never got an antibio and he has major yeast, bacterial and virus overload (this now better thanks to Valtrex). He got only the DTP vaccine but the viral issue was more related to varicella which he developed 2 years ago...or to god knows what other viruses Valtrex is fighting. Just try it for a 6 weeks period and you will know, it is worth trying. Senta I am wondering if the antiviral approach is mostly for vaccinated children. Guest guest
I rememeber reading years ago, that prior to finding the Measles virus in the intestines of children Wakefield found the herpes virus. If you are nervous about Valtrex try acyclovir. My son responded immediately to both, but I have heard that this it is not always the case. nne > > I am wondering if the antiviral approach is mostly for vaccinated > children. Guest guest
Good question! The OLE 1 to 2 pills per day and she did not give me a dosage for the virastop. I planned on asking before I ordered it. I was going to introduce the OLE for a week or two before the virastop. She usually wants me to introduce separately. Thank you! Guest guest
Interesting. Thanks for the info. Your son responded with or without a regression? What anti-virals is he on now or is he still on them? I have begun (this is day 2) with acyclovir and will try rotating with OLE. Some tantruming last night, but mostly good speech. It is hard to say by now what is working but he seems to be improving with less stimming and more creative speech. Been on Nystatin and now on Diflucan. Supplements and diet as well as DMSA de-toxing. D. So far nothing much other > > > > I am wondering if the antiviral approach is mostly for vaccinated > > children. No, in my son's case, I stopped the Valtrex and started the OLE about two weeks later. Then added Virastop slowly once his body had become more used to the OLE. Please note, that I had an antifungal on boars which I always started a few days PRIOR to either Valtrex at first and when Valtrex was stopped, then OLE and Virastop. Guest guest
> What else was he taking along with virastop and OLE that made him fully verbal? Thanks<. He was on a variety of standard supplements from a DAN protocol under the guidance of our DAN dr. He was taking Cod Liver Oil, Taurine, Transdermal MB-12 and Glutathione at a very small dose (he does not tolerate these well). Since every child is different, you just have to play with what the body needs and always adjust dosages...A sometimes complicated task, well at least for my child who seems to react to many supplements with a lot of hyperactivity and eventually behaviors. So always started any supplement slowly and kept notes on reactions so I could determine later on whether the particular supplement was of benefit to him. I also made sure I started one supplement at a time or things would get very confusing if so many things were started at the same time. He had had IV infusions of Secretin every 8-10 weeks for almost 2 years just prior to starting any Valtrex, OLE and Virastop. The infusions were night and day-- they helped him tremendously (because he had no words, although he really tried hard and had the desire to speak, we would get only tiny approximations). But the infusions opened the window, so to speak to expressive speech but they did not affect him enough for him to speak where EVERYONE would understand him, eventually speak in sentences and start to very slowly become conversational. To answer your questions, please see below: This was on my first post: " I introduced OLE and Virastop and it was a night and day difference. I credit these for helping him to finally become fully verbal and understandable to everyone else. In fact, I did it for 8-9 months a year and a half ago and I am waiting to re-start in about 1 month to see if it aids in clearing up some residual issues. " Yes, there were behaviors, pretty intolerable ones with lots of aggresion, stimming and super-duper hyperactivity and sensory issues with Valtrex (and believe me I AM PATIENT!) and then when I eventually after 8-9 months of Valtrex switched to OLE and Virastop, there were behaviors, but they were more tolerable this time around. I believe I started seeing results (in my son's case) within 6-8 weeks of starting OLE and then adding Virastop (I did this on my own but contacted my DAN dr. to fill him in, eventually). I had a gut feeling about this, was determined and followed it. I am glad I did. This was in conjunction with ABA Verbal Behavior type program I had been running for years as well as my determination to get this child to speak since I encouraged and always saw a strong desire from his part. He was already reading (dx: Hyperlexic, too) at 2.5 years old, which can be incredible but at the same time complicated as well. I figured, if he can read, he must be able to speak at some point... Again, this is my own personal experience, so you have to see what you can do in all areas to assist your child.
