Guest guest
We received the letter from DADS/CLASS after 7 years on the waiting list. It states we have 14 days to get the form back to them with the name of 2 agencies. Can someone help me with this? What agencies should we choose and are they the people that will deliver services? What type of services can we get? If any of you have experience with this please post or email me offlist. We are in the Austin area. Thank you. Guest guest
Class pays for the AIT and Scientific Learning Corp. programs that we do under special therapy. You are so lucky. I was told last week that there are 15,000 ahead of us on the list after 3 1/2 years. That gives me an idea as to how much longer my family will be waiting. If it's the Dallas area, who does the AIT that CLASS will pay for? Also, what types of programs does Scientific Learning Corp offer? My son is going through the process in Collin County right now. The approval just came through and we'll be having the service planning meeting next week. We're using R & L Group as his case management company and Educare as is provider. Both seem to be following through pretty well. The process is taking a little bit longer than they originally told me but I expect that with state stuff. The case manager has kept on top of everything and called me with regular updates so I haven't had to push at all. Gaylen

Guest guest
My daugther is in the last stage of processing. The team is coming out tomorrow to cement things I think. The agencies we chose were the ARC and Southwest, but she is going to request Direct Services where she will find the providers herself. As to how she will go about it I don't know, any advice or contacts is appreciated.

Guest guest
, I like to know more about this too... anyway, just doing a quick research in Google, here is what I find out: http://schoolchoice.mpls.k12.mn.us/Special_Education.html Programs and Services for Academic Learning Disabilities Coordinated Learning For Academic And Social Success (CLASS) program serves students in grades K-8 who have severe learning delays which require special education services for the majority of the day. Instruction is offered as necessary in the areas of reading, written expression, mathematics and social skills, with students participating in classes that are appropriate for their age and skill level. Offered at: , Armatage, W. Harry , Field, Folwell, Kenwood, Lyndale, Lucy Laney at Cleveland Park, Marcy, Northeast, Sanford, Sheridan and Sullivan. (Other locations may be named.) Sounds like there is something for us (as parent) can ask for the public school when our kids start in K... my son still in PPCD this coming year.. I will keep that in mind to ask my school district next year. Howin Guppy wrote: Please share with the list any information you get.... Guest guest
Hi and everyone, I just picked out a Direct Service agency and a Case mgmt agency based on locations in a random sort of way. I was told that they are almost all the same and that if I don't like one at any time that I can always change it. I am about to mail the letter to Austin. I have signed up for the services almost 6 years ago when my son was first diagnosed. I don't remember the phone number I used, but I have the number that came up with the letter. The number is on the letter is 1 Back when I signed up, I really did not know what I was signing up for as I was told that it takes years for our turn to come and that the services may change by then...so I am going to find out as I go.... Guest guest
CLASS has really nothing to with special education as I homeschool my son. It is a Texas-based program for services offered to the severely-disabled. The link below is for Minneapolis public schools from what I can tell. Am I missing something? I am sure there is something about the CLASS program in Texas on the net. I just have not had a chance to research it. There were some previous posts by Singleton on the list detailing the different services programs in Texas. Guest guest
Just for your information---location of the agencies really does not matter because they always come to me, I never go to them!(which is really nice) Also, I posted this the other day but just in case some missed it--if you're in the Houston area...I've been very pleased with Vita Living and Educare. I have a friend who was unhappy with a couple of others on this list but can't remember which ones so I'm not sure if they actually are all the same. She ended up changing. a Re: CLASS > Please share with the list any information you get.... > > I got an initial letter as well -- so any information you find out - > please share with everyone! > > Guppy > > ginam wrote: > We just got a letter offering us CLASS services for my son. it is > giving us > a choice of selecting one direct service agency and one case mgmt services > agency.
