Guest guest
Joan, LDN is Low Dose Naltrexone and is an FDA-approved drug used as an opiate antagonist for treating opiate drug and alcohol addiction since the 1970's. It has been used more recently in lower dosing to treat autoimmune diseases. There is a general website about LDN www.lowdosenaltrexone.com detailing the work by Dr. Bihari. Dr. McCandless has a yahoo group dedicated to the discussion of LDN and it's use (in transdermal form) for our kiddos. I joined the group and read up on it's use before deciding to try it with Nicolas http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/Autism_LDN/ We chose to use it as we definitely believed that Nicolas showed immune system dysfunction (hyper immune) and to hopefully help with that. Any other things we've seen are just extras for us. Feel free to email if you have any other questions. C. (I noticed there are now 2 's on the board) Excuse my ignorance but what is LDN? I am new to the medicines of aspergers as I have not put my son on anything but zoloft as yet. We are definitely working towards that route now and any information Thanks, Joan
