Guest guest
Nystatin didn't work for us either.Cheryl Lowrance wrote: We've never used sporanox but Nystatin was useless for us. cheryl Our prescription coverage (Express Scripts via BCBS) would not allow/pay for Diflucan for our 7 year old ASD son. As such our pediatrician has suggested we try Sporanox. Does Sporanox fit well into a protocol of GF/CF diet, Valtrex (500mg) , MB12 shots(Neubrander protocol), Epsom Salt/Vitamin C baths & ThreeLac (probiotics) ? Has anyone seen success with their child using Sporanox? We have previously used Nyastatin in the past with little, if any improvement. Valtrex definitely brought out more speech. How does Sporanox compare/rate with Diflucan? We use Dr Neubrander's vitamins from Kirkman Labs as well as Coromega for fish oil supplementation. Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated! The only other medication our child is on is Depakote (for seizure disorder) and Carnitor (for liver health to support the Depakote script). Child also is supplemented with GSH Reduced Glutathione from Ecological Formulas. Glutathione is almost within "normal range" after being severely deficient 3 months ago. Child's microbial panel via the Great Plains Laboratory shows yeast/fungals being high in 3-oxoglutaric & arabinose , if that's any help.Thank You all! Catch up on fall's hot new shows on Yahoo! TV. Guest guest
Hi There, Nystatin is one of the oldest and safest antifungal drugs. Its safety is largely due to the fact that it's not absorbed into the bloodstream. Virtually 100% of nystatin is eliminated in the feces. It is not as reliable as an antifungal that penetrates the intestines, into the bloodstream (killing yeast all over...not just in the spots that nystatin happens randomly come in contact with) Diflucan, Sporanox and Lamisil are appreciably or completely absorbed from the intestines into the bloodstream. They are probably your best bet when using Valtrex. Good Luck! > > Our prescription coverage (Express Scripts via BCBS) would not > allow/pay for Diflucan for our 7 year old ASD son. Guest guest
My older son started on Diflucan and got switched to Sporanox. For us both worked equally well. Guest guest
Cheryl/Debbie/Angie/Irishup2: You all ROCK !!! Thanks for following up. One thing I forgot to mention, our boy had tests for Lyme and HHV6 come back positive. Lyme on the Bowen, Igenex & Labcorp tests. , who posts on this site in addition to managing this website: http://www.lymeinducedautism.com is a great source of information regarding the possible Lyme/Autism connection. The HHV6 results though really piqued my interest. There has been only 1 book written on HHV6 and it is: http://search.barnesandnoble.com/booksearch/isbnInquiry.asp? z=y & EAN=9780525945345 & itm=3 Upon starting Valtrex and glutathione 4 months ago, our son's speech, eye contact & attention to detail have evolved tremendously. His energy level is phenomenal , he sleeps great and even started trying new foods. His frame has filled out with more muscle and some of his sensory integration issues are starting to finally level off. Whereas Valtrex is an anti-viral and glutathione detoxifies, his stool finally took form and color for the first time in his life! I refer to them as 'cuban cigars' as we finally got a nice brown color instead of a tan, beige or yellow like color; his liver must be recovering. No more sandy muck! Now that the biomedical and nutritional issues have been corrected and we have seen tremendous results with the Anti-viral (Valtrex); what could we possibly expect adding in an anti fungal such as Sporanox? My wife and I step back and assess our son's progress during the autism dark days (2000-2003) and from when we decided to " fight back " (2004-2007) and whereas we were in the dark for soooooooooooo long, there is some light at the end of the tunnel, albeit at a distance .... but still a light. With the tremendous gains we have seen , do you think the anti-fungal route will hasten or speed up his recovery? Once again, any and all advice is welcome. Best Regards! > > > > Our prescription coverage (Express Scripts via BCBS) > would not > > allow/pay for Diflucan for our 7 year old ASD son.
