I am not sure what type of helmet yet. I have seen one and it is hard

His mom said he did have some sleeping problems when he first got it.

I haven't talked to her since Friday, so I don't know if that got any

Hi Carol and thanks for welcoming me! I don't think he has any tort

issues. He just never liked being on his tummy. He'd cry and cry and

we would put him on his back and he would just smile!! He loves

laying on his back and wiggle his legs and move his arms! When he

sleeps, he sleeps right on his back w/his arms over his head. I tried

to put him on his side when he was younger but he would end up on his

back.

Our appt is May 2nd to get his helmet. I know they use a scan to

measure his head and we will be leaving that same day w/a helmet. I

know it isn't a docband, I just don't know what it is called.

Hi Lauri,

Try to do all the research you can on what type of helmet your son

will be getting, also research the orthotist.. Experience is the

key when it comes to a proper fit. Why Shane is in a 2nd helmet is

kinda a long story, but basically the first helmet fit him great and

he recieved awesome correction for the back of his head. Then our

family moved to the entire other side of the continent !(from Vegas

to South Carolina, to a very small town). My husband and I took the

authority to take the band off as we felt it has done what it could,

but in the back of my mind (DENIAL) I knew I should continue get a

new helmet to work on the side of his face... So I took Shane to

the neurosurgeon about two hours away, and he highly recommended

that we put him in another helmet and gave us a new script. So we

did. Sometimes you need another set of eyes (especially a

PROFESSIONAL) to tell you the truth. The average Joe would say " oh,

his head looks fine to me " or " I didn't notice anything weird about

his head " but deep down in my gut, I knew... Another great thing

that all these members have taught me is " TRUST YOUR INSTINCT " ...

Best of luck to you! Your son will be fine. He is so young you

will see great improvement soon...

, I understand now about your son. I am trying to learn about

this. Brady just has a huge flat spot on the back of his

head.....been there since he was real little.....I am hoping all will

go well and he won't have to wear it too long! I know the other baby

in his daycare has to wear his for 21 hrs for 8 weeks, then it will

be re-evaluated!

Hi Lauri,

Welcome to the group. Brady is at a great age to be banded. It's probably a STARband or a Hanger band. I've heard the scanners are much more pleasant for the child.

It may interfere with his sleep for a few days. He's used to a flat sleeping surface and now it will be round - it may take some getting used to. be prepared for sweat. He will be wearing a hat all the time. Dress him in less, especially the first few days and nights.

Hi Lauri, welcome! The scan is really nice and quick. You will be

surprised, babies are completely oblivious to a custom-made, properly

fitted helmet. My son was much older than Brady (9 mos.) and it

didn't even phase him. I would love to see Brady if you care to

share pics. Good luck and please keep us posted. We are here for you

every step of the way.

but others here have. It's not permanent! Make sure her vision

isn't impeded.
