Dear PROVE Texas Members,

As our supporters know, since PROVE was started, we have stayed involved in the

political process and educate our members about proposed/existing legislation to

support our mission: “PROVE provides information on vaccines, and immunization

policies and practices that affect the children and adults of Texas. Our

mission is to prevent vaccine injury and death and to promote and protect the

right of every person to make informed independent vaccination decisions for

themselves and their family.”

The success we have had over the years can be directly attributed to the long

term commitment of our members to be in communication with their elected

officials and taking the time to create relationships and educate them on our

issues. The vaccine and medical industries have some very powerful and

highly-paid lobbyists, and their jobs are to further the business interests of

their employers. Those business interests are sometimes in direct opposition to

parental and medical privacy rights and most importantly - our children’s

health.

It has been our experience over the years that there are many good people who

run for office, and they want to do the right thing, but they sometimes don’t

have the right information to act on, and then there are those few bad apples

who have sold out to business interests at the expense of our rights who are

elected into office right under our noses because of our lack of involvement in

the political process.

Coming up on March 7th, there are primary elections in the State of Texas in

multiple parties for statewide positions, state senate and representative seats,

along with some local level offices. Voter turnout for primary elections is

typically very low, but the exciting thing about that is it makes your vote and

the vote of your family, friends and neighbors count even more. It is not

unusual for some primary elections to be decided on vote differences of single

digit numbers. So many people make the mistake of not becoming involved

thinking their vote doesn’t count, but when a small group of like minded people

act together on the truth, it absolutely makes a difference.

and I are urging you to take just a few minutes of your time to do some

research on the candidates running in your district and to contact them and ASK

THEM DIRECT QUESTIONS ABOUT THE ISSUES THAT ARE IMPORTANT TO YOUR FAMILY. The

good candidates will take the time to answer your questions and they are much

more willing to give of their time now while trying to get elected which creates

the opportunity for an established relationship once they are elected.

Sometimes organizations will publish endorsements, but until you call the

candidates and ask questions for yourself on the issues that are most important

to your family, you're not going to know who is YOUR best choice. Also,

creating those relationships from now is so important to our success in the

future to protect our children and our rights.

If you do not know what district you live in, there is an easy to use web page

http://www.capitol.state.tx.us/fyi/fyi.htm where you just put in your address

and it tells you your current district and those who currently represent you.

Next, the Secretary of State has a web page that lists all the candidates,

including judges, running in your district with their contact phone numbers so

you can call and ask them about the issues. That page is

http://www.sos.state.tx.us/elections/voter/2006_primary.shtml . Our continued

success depends on your participation in all aspects of the political process.

Additionally, when the polls close on March 7th at 7:00pm, you can return for

your precinct meeting. We encourage everyone to participate. We have been

successful at passing resolutions protecting parental rights and informed

consent regarding immunizations and medical privacy at meetings around the

state. PROVE has a well educated and active membership that many legislators

count on for this information. We hope that we can count on you to continue to

stand up for the children and families of Texas.

Thank you!

Sincerely,

Dawn and Rex
