So, now I am 4 months post op (breast reduction) and I still have open wounds on

both sides. the larger of the wounds measuring about 5x5 cm. I have been told

my RA meds are probably the ones slowing my healing down (Arava, injectable MTX)

but its getting to be REALLY ANNOYING!! Its really starting to try my patience.

I'm not new to surgery this being my 11th one (4th this year) but I've never

experienced this long of a recovery. For those of you who have endured surgery

while on RA meds and others... did you find anything that sped up recovery for

you, is there something different I could be doing? Any feedback would be great.

Thank you in advance.

I hope you are all having a good day. Warm blessing to everyone.

Kerry sue. hi.. I too a couple of my surgeries were followed by a long healing

time.. I was told because my immune system was overactive, It took a bit longer

for the body to decipher what was goin on.. they put me on antibiotics for all

my surgeries now.High or low immune systems work almost the same.Unless your in

the middle surgery stresses the body out pretty bad. I dont know if its the same

thing as you, but i would ask some questions about whats going on to your

dr..dont wait...Take care heal soon... deb

all my docs, just sorta shrug it off, like its no bid deal... the wounds are

clean and I'm not showing any sign of infection so they don't believe there

needs to be any intervention.... Of course if it was their chest I know they

wouldn't feel the same. The only time since I had this surgery that I healed

normally was while I was on antibiotics while my son was being treated in the

hospital... they gave me antibiotics because they weren't sure what he had and

wanted to be careful with me. During that time, I healed nice and quickly... but

thats the only time. I'm normally a patient person, but grrrrrrr, lol... take

care and thank you for your thoughtful reply.

Kerri Sue,

I am sorry to hear you still have open wounds after your surgery. I'm

sure the RA meds is playing a part in the healing process. I will

keep you in my prayers, Tawny
