a little background:

I just joined your group and over the last few weeks have compiled

tons of information regarding Autism and ADHD to treat my son.

Needless to say, much of it is confusing, but I believe we are

headed towards a GFCF and dairy free diet, along with clearing the

home of all gluten and caesin products - and would like to detox the

heavy metals.

My son is 14 yrs old now. Diagnosis at 2 yrs as severely autistic

with no language at all, we have made remarkable progress through

conventional therapies and drugs to control the ADHD. He is now

only mild to moderately autistic, with speech being his major

delay. Academically he is still a few years behind the other

students of his age and he has no desire to have or make friends -

he's happy to play on his own. He has always been an extremely

healthly boy (I can't even remember the last cold or flu symptoms)

and the only med's he takes is Adderall (40mg daily) for the ADHD

and very occasional use of Albuteral for mild/seasonal Asthma.

My questions are:

1) During your travels have you met any families with older children

(teen and young adult) who have begun a program, such as yours

and/or the one I describe above, and had the remarkable results that

you and your son experienced? Complete recovery.

2)You'll probably recommend I consult a doctor for this, but in your

opinion, do you think he also needs to be taken off the Adderall for

us to see the improvements we hope for? Or will the Adderall not

effect any results?

3) In your opinion, do you think the program(s) you write about will

help a child of my son's age and with the disabilities mentioned

(academically, socially, but most importantly Speech) - or is it

possible that we're too late in this respect?

4) I have noticed studies that say the Great Northwest (were my son

was born and we now live) has shown huge jumps in the number of

child diagnosised with Autism over the last decade (more than

anywhere else in the US)? Have you also found this out? What do

you make of it?

It's not easy to hurt my feelings and I don't get upset easily, so

please be as frank as you're willing to be with me.

Thank you so much for your time and thoughts,
