Ultimately, I fear the only way the system would change however, is if the

American people come to believe such models of practice (IMP-ish models)

will benefit them, in their wallet.

Theoretical discussions of " quality of care " and improved use of health

care system monies, etc, mean nothing to the common American. The ONLY

thing that will get the great majority of the population to listen is if

supporting practices like this actually improve their bank accounts.

And unfortunately, the people holding the money bags of health care are

the insurance companies (private and public) and not the doctors or

patients.

Currently I'm feeling that I can only control a good portion of the small

world around me and thus don't feel like even reaching out to the local

" powers-that-be " . It's great to see your posts and hear others'

inspirational calls for action. But I gotta admit pessimism about health

care in general... but optimism in my own practice (...and the little

league baseball team I'm coaching this spring!)
