Marius-

as far as I can tell, you can also do direct billing though EZClaim, you

have to buy the direct billing module, costs $1600 with support, which I

think you would need. However, when I looked into it, you could only bill

BCBS medicare and medicaid, not other commercial payers such as United;they

want their bills sent through the clearinghouse- this was definitely the

sticking point. The advantage of doing the direct billing module is that you

can also use the '835 " part, which posts and adjusts the claims

electronically to your account. Now THATwould be delightful, but maybe not

worth the cost and effort.

You can get ERAS using EZClaim if you go directly through their

clearinghouse EClaims. It is only $15 once when you set it up. I am in the

process of setting up electronic billing right now so I can really enjoy my

billing! (Gwen, I am working on it!)

this is the very last big piece of electronica I am adding. I swear I am

not adding any more! (well maybe updox later, but it will seem minor in

comparison)

In sequence, I have used : AC and EZClaim and QB, on single laptop and

wireless all in one, web site, patient email

Then: networked 2nd computer (this was clearly the hardest piece of all due

to some operating system glitchiness), allowed me to receive faxes to PC and

go paperless

Started using Hows Your Health web based electronic survey

Then: added Appointment Quest and recently went from basic up one notch to

classic

Then: added Instant Medical History , and Instant Medical Hx available from

my web site

Started Cobian backup and working on driveimage for backup (thanks Larry)

Now: electronic billing

(Pant, pant, pant). Evolution is so work intensive. I think I have to rest

a bit at this point.

What clearinghouses do people use? Lynn, I can't tell if it's obvious (to everyone else)

what EMR/PMS you are using.
