Guest guest
An ophthalmologist in town would like me to do H. and P.'s for patients needing surgery for cataracts, lid ptosis and a few other procefures that he mostly does at an outpatient surgery center. The surgery center requires an H. and P. I am wondering if I can bill for this separately from his procedure, and if so, what codes to use? Anybody have any experience or ideas? He does not like to do them and and feels he is rusty on a lot of the meds, so he feels it would improve his quality possibly. A company that uses PA's has approached him to do them for free to him, but they would bill the insurance, so I assume it can be done that way. I suppose if the patients have their own doctor, it might be better medicine to have the PMD do them, but there are often problems getting it done with all the paper work ready for the time of surgery, so he would rather have a deal set up with me so they will be done when he needs them and he only has to deal with one source for his H. and P.'s.
