Guest guest
It's been mentioned in the past that some docs are writing Rx's for the money losers and sending them to the pharmacy to pick up or order. Then the patient comes back and gets the shot at the office. Anyone else doing this? I'm going to call my local pharmacy and talk to them about this option on Monday. I think it would be a great option for Gardasil, Zostavax, etc. That way if patients really, really want it -- no problem. Write a Rx. Patient gets it from pharmacy -- may have to wait a few days to have it ordered. Patient brings in the vaccine and clinic gives it. I suppose one would lose some money on the time to give the injection or the cost of the syringe and needle, but it might take away some of the hassles and risk of keeping these new expensive meds in stock. Thoughts? Anyone doing this? Locke, MD
