Hi Loucretia:

Welcome to the group. You have come to the right

place for unconditional support, and great

information. Yes, we can relate to you - we all truly

understand and " get it " . We all have gone through

just about every emotion you can think of when coping

with this disease. Depression goes hand in hand with

chronic pain, and I personally take Effexor XR because

of it - it took about 2 years of RA for me to finally

admit to my doctor that I was becoming very depressed,

but I am glad that I did because it has really been

helpful for me. Not saying that you need an

anti-depressant, but it is not unheard of when we have

to deal with the pain, etc. day in and day out. It is

very frustrating not being able to do things that you

used to take for granted, and hard to explain to those

around us that we cannot do something anymore, or have

so much pain, when we still look the same to them. It

also took me a long time to ask for help when I needed

it (sometimes I still try on my own), but some things

like opening jars are just beyond me at times. How

long have you been dx with RA and what meds are you

on? It takes a while for them to kick in, so you need

to be patient which is hard, I know, when you are in

pain. Depending on what it is, it could take 2-3

months before you begin to experience benefit. Anyway,

again, welcome, and hang in there -
