Regarding the discussion on sending chart records by CD or stiffy disk...I got a stiffy disk.I imported into my EMR as an attachment and reviewed the file -- the clinic sent it in .rtf (rich text format) so no problem opening it.The interesting conundrum -- now what do I do with the stiffy disk?If it was paper, I just throw it in the paper shredder pile for later.I wonder if the DVD/CD shredder would handle the old stiffy disk? - probably not since it has the aluminum tab.

There are CD/DVD shredders? Wouldn’t

a pair of scissors work? If I ever received pt records via CD (no one else in

my area is doing this to my knowledge), I would just treat it like I do the

paper records – give it to the pt for their records or to destroy.
